So often I am disappointed with contemporary novels because at the tail end of the book the action becomes ridiculously sensational. I don't need, or want, something totally over-the-top to be satisfied. I want quality writing in a compellingly real story. Deahn Berrini's novel How to Earn Your Keep, kept me turning pages right to the satisfying end.

Berrini writes for her local newspaper, teaches writing, and works for a Boston-based homelessness charity. A graduate of Brown University with a degree in History and an alum of Boston College Law School, she lives north of Boston with her family.
