Old school Southern baking at it's finest. Personally, the cake section was my favorite.

My folks gave me this when I was looking to add some simple sweets to a bakery I'd just opened. This is a humble little book, with refreshingly simple recipes that work. There are no fancy schmancy ingredients, but there are a great variety of desserts with a down home appeal. For all the hifalutin baking books I own, I always return to this one for ideas when I'm invited to a pot luck or barbeque. I even used the benne wafers recipe when I applied for a job in a swanky NYC catering firm, and they loved it! Gotcha!
