Welcome to Bloomfield, where life is simple, love is real, and stories are shared.
Andy Barnhart's parrot Murray has always scared the children of Bloomfield, but when he starts scaring the adults, veterinarian Sarah Faire is reluctantly cast into the role of the Pet Whisperer. Soon all the locals want her help with their dysfunctional pets, leaving little time for Sarah to care for the sick and injured animals at her clinic.
Being best friends with Sarah's brothers, Josh Tavendish has always been fond of her, but when caught in the whirlwind with Sarah and Murray, 'like' turns to 'love', and he doesn't know what to do about it.
Instead of leading her down a trail of romance, Josh finds himself following Sarah on a wild parrot chase through Bloomfield -- from the tea room to the beauty salon to the police station, and more! At the end of the trail Sarah catches Murray, and Josh catches Sarah's heart in a marriage proposal.
Now the Bloomfield Garden Club must get ready for a wedding, but are parrots invited?
Gail Sattler is the author of numerous novels, novellas, gift books, cookbooks and devotions. She is a longstanding member of East Ridge Community Fellowship, a Mennonite Brethren church. She lives and writes in Vancouver, B.C., Canada.
Gail is a wife, mother, writer, and musician, and the order of those things will depend on what day it is. She leads a busy life, with music affiliations in a jazz band and string orchestra, as well as writing, which is her passion. She wrote her first book back in middle school on a clackety old manual typewriter. Her writing has changed a lot since then. Now Gail writes romantic comedy, and most of the books she's written in the last few years are part of a series. Gail loves to continue a story, to make a new book with the story of a minor character from a previous story.
When Gail isn't writing, she loves to take pictures. Her primary targets, err, volunteers, are usually her family, pets, friends, and bandmates.
I got this book as a gift and had no idea what it was about. I also own three parrots, so it was intriguing. It was a cute short story about love and going after what you want. Or maybe it just seemed short as I couldn't put it down. How the townspeople kept making her the "pet whisperer" was a little obnoxious. Just because you spoil your animal and can't control it, doesn't make anyone a whisperer. It means the other person is setting boundaries, something you are unable or unwilling to do. But I digress. Read this if you want to put a smile in your heart.
Predictable story line for the 2nd Bloomfield Series
Sarah is a Vetenarian & Josh owns a pet store. They grew up together, best friends, etc. Sarah becomes known as the "Pet Whisperer" when she seems to know what the pet is thinking. When a pet parrot gets loose and starts visiting around the community, Sarah & Josh find themselves going from place to place to reign in the wayward parrot. The end is predictable.
This was a fun addition to the Bloomfield series. There were laugh out loud moments and overall the book was a good read. Even though it is part of a series, it stands alone.
