It’s like choosing between her divorced mom and dad and her old house and new house. Is it always going to be Mia in the middle, or can she mix it up?

Coco Simon always dreamed of opening a cupcake bakery, but she’s afraid she would eat all the profits. When she’s not daydreaming about cupcakes, Coco edits children’s books and has written close to 100 books for children, tweens, and young adults, which is a lot less than the number of cupcakes she’s eaten. Cupcake Diaries is the first time Coco has mixed her love of cupcakes with writing.

The book Cupcake Diaries: Mia in the Mix is written by Coco Simon and is the 2nd book in the sires. The book has 156 pages and 18 chapters. In the first book it is all about Katie and how she starts the CC (The Cupcake Club).

Mia is a new kid to school and has no new friends. Her parents are divorced and her dad lives in Manhattan. Mia is feeling very lonely and finds Katie, Alexis and Emma. They decided that for a fundraiser for the dance. The group of friends decides to bake 3 dozen cupcakes to raise money. The PGC (Popular Girls Club) also decides to set up a both but won’t tell anyone what they are doing. They decide to do a makeover booth. They are convinced that they will beat everyone and win the grand prize at the dance. At the end of the day it turns out that the Cupcake Club won the fundraiser for raising the most money.

Now, into the 2nd book. In this book Mia runs into a lot of trouble, such as on Monday, they won the fundraiser so they got the grand prize. So on Monday they all were going to wear the school sweatshirts to school. The only problem was that Mia did like to wear sweatshirts. So, being the fashion designer she is she decided to make her sweatshirt into a sling bag. The only problem was that her friends did not like that she did not wear it as a sweatshirt and not the same way as they did.

Mia has a hard time with her life, because her dad lives in Manhattan and has to spend every other week with her dad. Mia has a lot of old friends in Manhattan and misses them a lot. Another hard thing that is hard for Mia is that she starts hang out with the PGC’s and her other friends do not like that. Her mom is a big time fashion designer and is holding a fashion show. The only problem is that she and the CC are supposed to make cupcakes for the show and the PGC’s want to go as well. But Mia knows that that is not a good mix. This leads me into my second problem Mia is having because she has to decide who to give the last 3 tickets to, to her real friends or to the nasty popular girls.


At the end of the book everything works out okay and Mia decides to dump the PGC and stick with her real friends. I hope you enjoyed reading my review and try and read the book. I also want to say that this book is for any gender and age.

This is a problem any ordainary girl could have.It makes you hang of your seat the entire time. I loved this book because the author showed what is wrong and right, but then at the end she has lots of groups of friends and only has 3 faishon show tickets. Finaly, the author brings out who she should really be friends with.

I think this book was good because it told me a lot about Mia and her live back in New York ,and how she made new friend when she ,moved. And how her parent got a divorce and how.Mia can´t decide how to make up her mind to bring the popular club or her cupcake friends . Sow she mixed up by bringing her friend New York, and bringing her cupcake friend. Katie and Katie´s friend from the popular club.

In this graphic novel, we follow Mia who is trying to balance two different friend groups, weekend visits with her father, school, and assisting her mother with a fashion show.

Again, this is so relatable for middle school girlies! Very cute!

Mia is in a new middle school in the suburbs aftrrr growing up in Manhattan. There have been a lot of changes since she and her mom moved into her mom's fiance's house and started at a new school. She has an older brother now, and though she has a group of friends, the popular girls want her in their group once they find out how into fashion she is. But Mia also likes her new friends as they find themselves cupcake entrepreneurs. How is a preteen to handle all this and a big math test?

I would absolutely have given this series to my youngest sister back in the dark ages and she would have loved it. The situations are recognizably part of a preteen's life and the lessons to be learned lightly presented without preachiness. It is a cute fun read that includes an easy cupcake recipe for a kid to make with friends.

I didn't like this one quite as much, mostly because I didn't find Mia as relatable a character. That, however, is a good thing for younger readers, because they've got a lot of options within this one series.

I like Cupcake series. The formula is unique, there are mixture of friendship, rivalry, fashion, family, frenemies.

Mia is a fashionable middle grade girl. Weirdly she gets along with The Popular Girls Club, which consist of a bunch of mean girls and the nice Callie. Mia can stand Sydney the bossy leader because the latter ia nice to her, due to the fact they have one thing in common, good sense of fashion.

But Cupcake Club and PGC don't get along well. In the end the true nature of Sydney shows and Mia firmly rebukes that her friends don't reevaluate their friends.

I like Mia's family stories, esp Dan, her stepbrother to be.

Mia is a part of the Cupcake Club, a group of four girls who share a love for eating (and now baking) cupcakes. But Mia has another interest too, one that her friends from the CC do not fancy - fashion. But the members of the Popular Girls Club do, and they seem to always run into Mia at the mall.

Can Mia be friends with two sets of girls while staying true to herself? Can she "mix it up" and be friends with everyone, or will she have to choose sides?

Cupcake Diaries is an adorable tween series. Katie's Cupcake Cure is the first book, and I really enjoy reading about these four friends. Each of the books is from another character's point of view, which is refreshing, and the story lines deal with true tween issues - divorce, moving, starting middle school, growing apart from friends, finding new friends, etc.

Another reason you should read the books - they always include a yummy cupcake recipe.

I'm really looking forward to Emma on Thin Icing...the next in the Cupcake Diaries.

I'm really enjoying this series- I think it's a fun flashback to Babysitter's Club for me :) Each book is from a different girl's perspective, so that was a fun way to change it up (and one of the reason's it reminds me of BSC- oh yeah, I'm using the abbreviation). This was another positive, sugary installment of the series, and it's a easy little relaxing read.

I liked the book Mia in the mix by Coco Simon. Mia in the mix is about Mia, she is a new classmate at school and has trouble fitting in. She decides to join the Cupcake club. When the popular girls club is interested in Mia’s style they decide to ask her to join there group and Mia had to make a hard decision. I liked this book and
I recommend it to anybody.

5 stars for nostalgia. I bought this more than 5 years ago, and I loved this whole series ever since then and today, I decided to reread this book. It definitely wasn't as amazing as 9-year-old me believed it to be, but it made me happy. Now, it seems quite cliche, with 2d characters and a lack of diversity, but then again, I'm not really the demographic anymore. :)

I like this book because it's very relatable. It shows how Mia really fells about moving and her finding true friends. I recommend this book to girls who just want to read a fun book. I really enjoy when Mia

Ce Tome 2 se concentre sur Mia et c'est exactement ce que je voulais après avoir lu le 1er : en savoir plus sur les autres filles ! Encore plus présents que dans le précédent, les cupcakes sont au centre du roman.

Mia est torturée car elle doit vivre avec son beau-père et son demi-frère. La cohabitation n'est pas toujours facile.. En plus de ça, Mia est une fille qui adore la mode, à l'inverse de Katie, Alex et Emma. Comme dans toute histoire d'ado, il y a bien évidemment un groupe de chipies (dont l'ex meilleure amie de Katie fait partie), adoratrices de mode, tendances, shopping etc. Sauf que c'est le hobby préféré de Mia, et que cela la rapproche des chipies. C'est un véritable dilemme puisqu'elle est franche et ne veut blesser personne.

J'aime bien que Coco Simon parle de sujets de jeunes aussi facilement. Il m'est arrivé d'être amie avec des gens qui se détestent.. Or comment faire ? Mia se montre très mature, en disant qu'elle a le droit de fréquenter qui elle veut, sans pour autant trahir quiconque.

"Je préfère avoir trop d'amies que pas du tout." Ah, parfois tu n'as pas le choix, tu es seule et tu le restes malgré tout.. En particulier quand tu as envie de creuser avec une potentielle amie, mais qui reste en fin de compte une chipie, une coquille vide niveau sentiments, comme Lucie dans ce Tome 😂

J'adoooore, tous les tomes se valent pour le moment, let's go lire le 3e 🥰

Book two in the popular Cupcake Diary series for middle-school children. This time the focus is on Mia Velaz-Cruz, who is the fashionista in the Cupcake Club. She’s dealing with divided loyalties as she share an interest in fashion with the girls in the Popular Girls Club, but doesn’t want to alienate her friends in the Cupcake Club. She’s also dealing with her parents’ divorce and having moved from Manhattan to the suburbs and her mom’s new boyfriend.

What I like about the books is that Simon writes believable tweens. Their concerns, likes, family issues and school dynamics are all completely believable and relatable. Simon soft peddles positive messages of kindness, loyalty, honesty, hard work and trust. And I like the relationships the girls have with their parents as well.

And the cupcake recipes at the end of each novel are a definite plus! Had I known about them when there were first published, I would definitely have given them to my youngest niece.. She’d have been the target age, and she loves to bake!

This second book from The Cupcake Diaries is told through the perspective of Mia. Like the other members of the club, readers will get a chance to know the new girl in school. Mia has never had a problem making friends before. Her motto is to be open and friendly with everyone. However, not everyone at Park Street school believes in mixing in with different groups of friends. When the Popular Girls Club takes interest in Mia's keen fashion sense and decide to recruit her, Mia has to decide between them and the Cupcake Club members.

3.5 stars. This book's central focus is Mia. Mia is a new student at Park Street Middle School. She is eager to find a place to fit in. Mia finds her place quickly within the cupcake club. Mia soon runs into a slight problem though. One of Mia's biggest interests is fashion, which would grant her entry into the popular girls' club. Now Mia must choose between her friends in the cupcake club and the popular girls club. Mia is torn over this decision and feels as if it is her parents' divorce on repeat, where Mia must pick a side. Will Mia figure out a way to have her cupcake and eat it too(pun intended).
Overall, this is a cute book. I enjoyed that this book was from Mia's perspective. This writing style gives the stories in the series variety.

3.5 stars, a little more in-depth of a story than the first. Mia has a lot of relationship stuff to figure out between new friends and newer friends (that are kind of feuding with her new friends), her old friends, dad’s new girlfriend, soon to be step-dad and step-brother. It all works out in the end, tho I’m certain there is more drama to come based on one of the last scenes. Plus there’s a cupcake recipe at the end, so that’s pretty fun.

Good book easy to get into it’s about a group of middle school girls and they have a club about cupcakes it’s about trying to fit in mean girls so it’s realistic fiction there’s a recipe in the back for vanilla buttercream cupcakes to try at home I tried it it’s the best cupcakes I ever tasted !! The frosting is also good for other recipes like other cupcakes, cookies, etc..

I don't care how old you get you can always use more lighthearted fun and cupcakes.

I think this is such a great read! Perfect for young girls any age from, I'd say, 8 - 14. Yes, some slightly more mature 8 and 9 year olds will enjoy reading this, too! Such a great book in such a great series.

This book was not as good as the first one was, but I'd continue reading the rest of the series as long as it's good. I love the cupcake talk, but this story didn't feel like there was that much in it (to me anyway).
