This book got me into reading. I read it in 4th grade. I was being bullied and a nice escape was reading this book on a bench in the halls. Even tho our boy Ľudo never been to Africa, it feels like he has. He could tell you and you wouldn't question a thing. And apparently even the locals say it's pretty accurate. An amazing book for all ages about Ľudo's traveled through Africa.

Jako devítiletý kluk jsem Africký zápisník a Horami Sumatry doslova zhltl. Krásně napsaná dobrodružně-naučná knížka, která kluky podobného věku musí nadchnout.
As a nine-year-old boy, I literally devoured The African Notebook and The Mountains of Sumatra. A beautifully written adventure and educational book that boys of a similar age must love.
