“Inches OFF! Your Tummy” by Jorge Cruise, is an interesting addition to the plethora of workout and diet books currently available. There are several things that make it stand out from the pack.
We all know exercise is important, yet it’s easy to dodge those mammoth thirty-minute gym routines we’re constantly being told need to be part of our daily routines. But Cruise has developed a regimen that requires five minutes a day, six days each week, with the focus of the exercise routine on high-intensity interval training. To be effective, there is an emphasis on correct repetitions and on working at your own pace. [It should be noted that some of these exercises require equipment: a medicine ball, a Swiss ball, dumbbells, sliders/gliders, and resistance bands].
Each five-minute routine alternates between one minute of primary exercise and one minute of active rest. For each of the primary exercises there are additional instructions to “simplify” or “supercharge” the exercise, allowing you to tailor the workout to what best meets your individual needs. Additionally, photographs accompany the comprehensive instructions for each day’s exercise routine. The program covers a four-week cycle and is comprised of forty-six different exercises.
As you might expect, there is a comprehensive guide to healthy eating that, in conjunction with your workout, is designed to help you manage your weight. There are some surprises here with a great many foods that you thought were off-limits included in the expansive daily food charts. Mr. Cruise discusses the importance of tracking calories, but offers a system that counts only certain [sugar] calories in your daily diet.
Throughout the book there are pages for you to record your progress; good if you don’t mind writing in the book. Otherwise, if you want to make use of the charts, you’ll need to photocopy those pages. Including a separate chart for recording and tracking your progress would be a real plus.
Overall, the exercises are “doable” [I tried them all], the food lists help you plan reasonable meals that support your weight loss goals. Skip the others; this is the book that is worth a look, the exercise program that is definitely worth a try.
I won this book in a Goodreads First Read Giveaway. I actually learned a few things that I was always curious about when losing weight such as different body fats and how to calculate carbs into a diet. The workout looks great and I start week 1 day 1 tomorrow for a healthier me!
Good book with advice and workouts that help. The weight loss i occurred from this book was offset due to the holidays. Anyone that sticks to this can firm up the flab and sculpt a flat belly.
