Have you even deliberated about how green the grass is on the other side? Let us all be honest with ourselves for just a moment. Every now and then, we all have desired to live the lives of someone else because it seems on the external as if all is well, their car, their money status, their home, etc. But then again, everything on the outer layer is no

This was another great book by the author. I had read the seven free chapters and decided to buy the paperback book. Because I wanted to know what happened next. I wasn't disappointed after I finish reading. Great read I'll definitely recommend.

Not what I am use to from Reshonda Tate Billingsley. Not a page turner, but an okay read. My final rating 3.5
This book was a little different that what I expected but I still thought it had a good storyline. It had some extra twists thrown in towards the end that made you say "that explains a lot!". I felt for Olivia and Kendall, innocent in this web of lies and secrets and having to learn the truth as young adults. This story pointed out that everyone has problems and drama whether you come from money or you are struggling trying to live day by day. Different struggles come with different territory an ...more

Reshonda Tate Billingsley has done it again. OMG! This was a good book that draws you in from the beginning. Reshonda takes you on a journey and then there is a twist that you don't anticipate. This is a book about family, love, deception, lies and forgiveness. I am looking forward to the next novel by Reshonda.

I got a copy of this book when I went to see Bilingsley at a reading at the public library here in Madison. I was very taken with her and glad to have gotten the book. I read it over the next three days and was pleasantly surprised with how much I enjoyed it. Billingsley is a talented story teller and I like the focus on her character's development and let them respond to situations rather than relying on over the top drama every few pages. I was also glad to see that although there was a Christ ...more

Well, hot d*mn!!! BOOM!!! Now, that's how a wife is supposed to confront a mistress. And, boy Adele has no issue sticking up for herself at this point. A Family Affair is an adventure into what happens when a mother's past collides with a daughter's present.

What you do in the dark will surely come to light and can have some long lasting affects! What a story of lies, secrets and ultimately healing. ReShonda weaves a tale of a family secret so embedded that when it all comes out it will leave you stunned. I so enjoyed this novel and hated to see it end. Love really does cover a multitude of faults as is displayed as well in this novel. Great job ReShonda, hats off to you. I found one misprint when Stephon showed up at Olivia's job but outside of tha ...more

In A Family Affair, we see firsthand what secrets can do to a family. Olivia finds out on her mother's deathbed that her father is incredibly rich. She goes to find and confront him for answers. Once she meets him, she is caught up in a whirlwind of a better lifestyle and more deceit until everything comes to a head and the truth explodes. A great book but I expected that from ReShonda.

Reshonda always writes stories that introduce us to some tough life situations. In this book lies and deceit only lead to hurt and heartache for most of the characters. After I read one of her books it always encourages me to delve deeper into my faith..... trust more, love more, and to pray more.

A Family Affair was my book by Ms. Billingsley and it was an enlightening read. In this story we meet Lorraine and Olivia Dawson and Lorraine and the hard times they have fallen on because of a past indiscretion on Lorraine’s part. Once Lorraine discovers Olivia’s acceptance letter to Julliard and realized they did not have the funds to cover schooling. Lorraine decides it is time that she face her past and demand Olivia’s birthright. As the synopsis states these two wome
Olivia Dawson have dreams of attending Julliard, where she was accepted but had to turn the opportunity down due to limited funds. Her mom, Lorraine, works day in, day out to barely make ends meet. Lorraine is her world, whom she respects and cherish. She grows up knowing that her father was dead, and how he was a loving, caring man. When Lorraine discovers that Olivia turns down Julliard, she sets out on a mission to contact Olivia's dad, who is in fact, living and doing very well for himself. ...more

Another excellent job, by the one an only ReShonda Tate Billingsley. This book is about a mother who kept a secret from her daughter. Lorraine Dawson had met Bernard Wells when she worked at a restaurant. Bernard fell in love with Lorraine, but he wanted to be successful so he married his boss daughter. Lorraine kept a secret from her daughter for years. Olivia was accepted to Juilliard, but did not go because she could not afford it. Lorraine was heartbroken so she went looking for Olivia’s fat ...more

Things people do for money in order to live the good life. Marrying someone you know don't love you. Lies, lies, and more lies. Forgiveness. This book had it all.

Bernard was a selfish punk. Adele was cold as ice (understood why near the end of the story) but she didn't have to be that bad.

I loved Mona - she kept it real with her girl Olivia.

Just remember, money truly does not bring or buy you happiness.

Interesting book about uncovering family secrets and how they affect peoples lives. Olivia discovered her father and what a shocker. He is a man with money and she is someone that has sturggled financially through life with her mother. Her mother passes and her life is turned upside fown. Well written book.

This book was amazing, much like all ReShonda's other book. I hated to see the book end. This book was so much like my life. Being product of a affair and wanting to badly to know about my sibling. I still don't think they understand the desire of wanting to have a "true sibling relationship". I pray one day they will need me like I need them.

Whether I agree or disagree with the choices of some characters in the novel, it was so good that I felt like I was there and these characters were so believable. I can see this as a lifetime movie!

Once again my girl ReShonda has delivered an amazing story that's ready to be placed on our viewing screens. I finished this book in record time. A real page turner with a surprise twist. So worth the money I spent on purchasing it (I couldn't wait until it arrived at my library, it had me hooked from the first chapter)

This is the second book by this author that I couldn't finish. I wanted to like this book but I couldn't get into it.. I skipped about 130 pages just to see if my hunch was right about how it would end and it was.

Good Read.

This was a really good book, kept me coming back for more. I was even reading soon my lunch break. Wanted to know more about what happened during the year at the end but we're never ready to put a good read down.

One of the goods one! Engaging and entertaining from page one! One of my favorite authors! For some reason, I gave the character Kendall a visual and kept thinking he looked like Charles on Sweetie Pies! Just looked like him, not act like him!

I really enjoyed reading this book. This was my first book written by this author that I have read, so I can't base the writing on other books she has authored. I liked the characters and story line. I will be reading more of her books.

This was my first purchase by Mrs. Billingsley and I had no idea what to expect. I was pleasantly entertained and could not wait to get back in my car to hear the next chapter unfold. I could easily see this book being adapted into a move on Lifetime.
