Two teenage girls go missing in the span of one year- both are labeled runaways and forgotten by the system.

Forgotten, until Rachel, a determined mother, walks into the office of private investigator, Gavin English. She needs to know for sure what's happened to her daughter, Jennifer. A nice pair of legs and a little cash go a long way, so he's on the case.

To the Bone evokes the image of a noir-ish detective fiction with a modern twist. A gripping thriller for fans of the hard-boiled detectives.

The horror of the teacher who prefers fresh young meat and the detective with his share of vices. An entertaining read.

Hoping there are future stories including Gavin English.

I really enjoyed this. It was a quick read but very engrossing and wrapped up nicely, though not perfectly for the private investigator. The killer was a sicko and there was some great gore.

I received this, from the author, in return for a review.

This was a chilling and intense story. A classic story of a troubled investigator and a creepy psychopath. If that's the kind of story you like you should read this story. I wont say much more, if I do I might spoil it for those who haven't read it.

To the Bone had a noir, gritty feel to it. Private eye Gavin English is kind of a mess. He drinks too much, has a bad attitude, and his motivations are questionable. Yet I couldn’t turn my eyes away from this train wreck known as Gavin who does manage to pull himself together long enough to solve this gruesome case. Plus, we fancy the same handgun, so he can’t be all bad.

As much as I liked the dark atmosphere of this story, I did wish the ladies had a better showing. They are all either sex obje

For such a short story, this sure packs a punch! A detective that smokes too much, drinks way too much, and lives off of coffee. I'm not so sure I even like him, but I know I want to read more about him! I'd also like to read more about his former partner, his porn friend and his ex. So much more story to enjoy.
The title "To the Bone" is perfect for this read. Be warned.....very bloody. Very violent. Very gross. Throw up worthy. Very entertaining!

Good, but a little too gruesome straight out the gate for me.

I love thrillers, I like mystery and a bit of horror. This was just kind of... Gross.

I don'te be be picking up the next book as I expected to in the Jack Daniels collaboration... This version of the reporter took on a different role and I wasn't a huge fan.
Well written, clean and concise, but not my style.

Gross plot and unlikeable protagonist... I stopped reading.

TO THE BONE is a classic example of detective fiction using the inverted story format. The crimes and the villain's identity are revealed early in the story, letting the reader focus more on learning about Gavin English and the how/why behind the gruesome acts. (Note: Although not explicitly graphic, this story involves cannibalism so there are moments which could be stomach-churning for some readers. So know your limits and proceed with caution.)
