Revisiting Xander and Braxton again was enjoyable,this book didn't hold too much angst as the blurb told us.
Braxton found the way to solve some problem in his life while Xander was getting better after he was shot.
The conflicts between shifters and goblins were really tip-top at first,and how it ended was too smooth for me.
Though I loved every moment when Xander and Braxton had been together.

Leap in the Dark is the eighth book in The Moonlight Breed series by author Gabrielle Evans. In this one, we revist the story of Braxton and Xander.
Xander has been partially paralyzed, and this has changed the dynamics of his relationship with Braxton. Braxton is trying to be the best mate he can be. He is working so hard to fix Xander he is getting lost in the shuffle. Xander at first concentrates so much on what he has lost he cannot see the light at the end of the tunnel.
What I liked was when this turned around. Xander was forced to get some help, and he changed, not overnight, but he changed for the better. I really enjoyed his personality, his total alpha qualities, and caring. It's obvious he really loves Braxton.
Braxton, on the other hand, is a magnet for trouble. He can find it without even trying. He goes to get away from his troubles for a while and manages to get some goblins pissed off at him. My favorite line is from his best friend, Keeton. “Territorial goblins on a perpetual menstrual cycle have it out for us because we stopped to eat.” That pretty much sums up how it starts.
But how it ends will make you want more. This book does have a lot of characters you know and love in it, so must be read in order to enjoy fully. I loved the humor, the love and the action in this book. I cannot wait for the next one in this series.

Notes:
Very cool that we have a post-happily-ever-after couple having issues and that the little guy isn't just getting angsty and taking off. This time the big guy is angsty.
"Can hold grudges like a woman scorned." And "a bunch if territorial goblins on a perpetual menstrual cycle..." Why do women write things like this? It's not necessary nor funny, just offensive.
I hate that these stories associate being the penetrator with being in control. That's more sexist bullshit. I do like that they switch on a rare occasion but it pisses me off. I am not passive or submissive in bed unless we're playing games. (Does that make me a "toppy bottom"?)
It's so so dumb that he didn't try . Now he just looks like a idiot.

It's good that Braxton isn't brushing the rudeness off nor making a big dramatic grudge thing. He's being an adult.
Peril had a good start but then fizzled. I want some fear and blood and unconsciousness.
Such a boring anticlimactic ending to the book. The was too polite and the resolution too easy.
The last little scene was adorable and sweet though.

While the book itself I liked (4 stars) it really was a catch up with previous characters book as suspected. Get an intro into a new paranormal (nasty little buggers) that comes after them and intro to a few more new characters. I AM disappointed thou.. I feel the majority could have been included as asides in someone else's book. It could have been done with less 'writing' and less from Brax or Xander's point of view and just been witnessed. It feels like the series has re-lost momentum by this 'interruption' since it could have (will?) continue with the next new shifter (the other twin?) finding his mate...

Excellent story. You can really tell the author feels comfortable with some of her past characters. The revisiting of Braxton and Xander really shows this. The connection and fun between them was there.
Xander's injury makes the alpha turn into a pouting baby which I can understand, but the not trying to shift and heal himself, or that it's a foreign concept, was a little unbelievable. I would think with their shifter healing that'd be the first thing he tries.
The rest of story went really good and I enjoyed watching Xander overcome his disability.

I wasn't expecting another book about Braxton and Xander but it actally turned out good. New characters are introduced, we get character updates and there's a fair amount of action because of the new danger to Braxton and Keeton.

The beginnin I wasn't so sure about, I never like things not going right for my boys. It all worked out, I was happy to see it bought together with the workings of Haven working how they should.

I liked visiting with past characters and looking in on them. I also liked that like any real couple they had their ups and downs and needed to work stuff out.
