Gah! I don't think I can rate this book fairly... It's well written... it held my interest throughout... I didn't want to put it down... I loved the "supernatural" elements of the story line... that would typically be 5 stars ... BUT there were several things I did not see coming and thus just couldn't fully buy into, accept and love this book.  I trusted & liked the wrong people and thus didn't really like the way the story line went.  It's a series... there is more to come which I will

I've read the book weeks before... And I am not sure I remember it all. I forgot my notes in the office so I'll just typed whatever I remember about it.

Soooo... I very much liked the concept of this new novel of Kelly Oram. It's not like Being Jamie Baker, which I'm not sure if it's good or bad, maybe a little bit of both. Anyway, from the start... I don't like Russ. I really, really, really don't like hi

I loved this book. I really really did. I'd give this book a 4.5 but since that's not an option, I rounded up.

So there's this thing I have about love triangles... in short? I don't like them. They can be hilarious at times, but generally you already know who the character is going to end up with.
But somehow this book just makes it work.

Dani. Dani. Dani. This girl. She's a feisty little thing in the beginning, and it gets lost throughout most of the book because the whole "breaking the bond thi

RATING: 2.5 Hearts

I quite enjoy and find intriguing the prophecy deciding destiny tropes in books, so when Kelly Oram’s, Chameleon, proved to be little less mesmerizing and a lot more frustrating, I was not a satisfied reader, to say the least.

The backdrop of Chameleon – full of supernaturals of every race; warlocks, witches, vampires, werewolves, seers and demons – is much the same as any other paranormal read. And yet, there is a unique charm to its familiarity that I enjoyed very much. The b

October 10, 2017 Edit:
I found all the old notes I wrote about this one while reading. I choose not to publish them at the time because I didn't want to hurt this novel due to my massive love for Kelly Oram, but now that the book has been out for years I feel like it's okay to do so.

Following are my notes, in bullets, kind of all jumbled and including spoilers:

3.5 stars -- OK, so here's the thing: I'm actually not a fan of love triangles. Now that's not to say I won't love a book that has a love triangle, b/c one of my favourite authors unfortunately LOVES them and has a major one in one of my favourite series of hers. I guess it just has to be done right, or there has to be enough other stuff surrounding the story to push down my inherit dislike of love triangles. And this book failed to do that for me. What's

In this novel, we are introduced to a world full of various supernatural creatures: warlocks, witches, seers, vampires, werewolves–everything under the sun. Danielle grew up in a small tow in Pennsylvania with the company of her parents, her best friend Russ, and Russ’ father Alex. On Dani’s sixteenth birthday, Russ tells her that he’s a warlock. Soon, Dani is thrust into the world of the supernatural and is tol
It was different from most of Kelly's books, because this one we have a supernatural added to the cute, innocent romance that make tiny glittery butterflies feel in your stomach.

I love the book! I love how refreshing it is to see the main character, Dani denying the supernatural world. It's quite normal actually, the panic, the horrifying feeling and also feeling betrayed. She was raised human, she has human feelings though she is something else (I said that in the Arrow's voice) She is

A vividly imaginative young adult novel of paranormal and supernatural creatures, and a 16 year-old girl's struggle to find her place in this frightening new world. This fast-paced, action packed paranormal romance had twists and turns, and no true certainty who the bad guys were and who were the good guys. The heroine had a believable character arc, maturing from fairly self centered to much more noble and caring about others, and about doing what was right. There was an absolutely heart-wrench ...more

Great YA paranormal romance. Dani and Russ have been best friends since they were 3 years old, but when she turns 16, he reveals a secret about himself that throws her into a whole new world and leaves her questioning everything she believed to be true…and what she believed to be mythical. Warlocks, witches, werewolves, faeries, and seers all exist…and she might be the most powerful of them all. Is she the Chosen One prophesied about who would destroy all evil…or will Evil destroy earth because ...more

I haven't read a book this terrible in a while. Please, spare yourself from this book.

I'm writing the full review ASAP.
For now, I'll leave it at this.

Two boys fight over 'The Chosen One' who is an incredibly powerful anomaly.
These two boys are petty and naive.

Their personalities were inconsistent with their actions and even more inconsistent with their words.

Also....would a jealous straight boy talk about his amazing skin cream in front of his rival? Then call a girl 'Skank

Normally, I loathe love triangles, because of the back and forth between two people and drama, but in this book it was done really well. What's more, is that Dani's relationship with both guys are severely manipulated, but only one of them was

I love Kelly Oram’s writing style!

She jumps into this urban fantasy with the same feel of wild abandonment I love in V is for Virgin. She uses exclamation points!!!! :-D The characters are vibrant, the story is so fast-paced… I couldn’t put it down.

The trouble with the love triangle is not so much… the love triangle but every motivation behind it. Dani doesn’t know who is telling the truth and it gets so tangled up that not every trusted person can be who they say they are. The pressure mounts…

Great start to a new series!

I got to admit I was a wee bit weary when I started this novel. Because in the first chapter there was a douche-bag guy and a smart-ass girl.. so very Oram actually! I was reminded of Being Jamie Baker - and was worried this might be very similar. Well besides the snarky rebellious impertius teens that are in the book this has not that much in common with BJB. I got to admit that I've been wondering what kind of a teen Oram was. Anything near those very entertaining

I don’t really have any idea who the author, Kelly Oram is, until one day, a friend of mine introduced her books to me. I was doubtful at first, but I came out of my comfort zone and signed up to her blog’s newsletter. And I am so grateful that I did. I’ve been a fan of the hit TV series, The Vampire Diaries and The Originals and was really drawn into it. So I was hopeful that this book would have that same effect on me. And viola, my wish was granted! This book is so intense that I deprived mys ...more

The idea was good.... I really liked the whole chameleon thing... That was a kind of awesome idea... And putting ALL the super naturals together! Love it! And the writing wasn't bad....

I loved this book. The story line wasn't that original, since I have read other books with the prophetic heroine that saves the world and blah, blah, blah. What made me love this story so much was one character: Gabriel.

I have a serious soft spot for innocent, sweet, down to earth, insecure guys. Gabriel is the incarnation of that guy. He was so understanding and self sacrificing that it was hard to witness his pain throughout the novel. I wanted

Let me start off by saying I freaking love this book! I seriously love it!

Danielle grew up attached to her best friend Russ. They were inseparable. They never spent a day apart and were constantly getting into trouble together. On Dani's sixteenth birthday Russ gives her something she wished for when she was a little girl and then told her his biggest secret. She couldn't believe it. One night while she is on her first date with someone who is not Russ, she ends up casting a spell. She completel

BUT pretty soon you will get to meet my all-time favorite leading man. (Of my own characters anyway.) Of everyt

As soon as I read the description for this book I just knew I had to read it! I mean come on we have Magic, A Manipulator of Time, Seers, Monsters, Creatures of all kinds, Action, Adventure, and of course, Romance. It has it ALL! I loved it! I am so praying that the sequel doesn't take forever to be released, because I really need the second book NOW!!!

The writing was amazing! Kelly is very creative, and kept me glued to the pages, needing more. This book was fast-paced with action and adventur

I so love Kelly's writing! She is so creative and does that teenage emotional turmoil & clever snark so well. My favorite gift of hers is her ability to create addictive (hard to stop reading) and believable attraction and chemistry between her characters. This story was slightly different because the "cravings" experienced by Dani are more than just her own normal physical attraction to a love interest, but a supernatural hunger that needs to be fed by physical contact with other supernatur ...more
(view spoiler)
