Yes, this book is absolutely the sequel of The Art of Thinking Clearly, if you have read the first one, you should complete it with this one.
Basically he is indeed a good friend of Taleb, because they share exactly same way to view this world and they both praise Daniel Kahneman a lot, because Kahneman also believes in the uncertainty of the economics and rejects all kinds of prediction. If we can predict the incident from unknown, then that is not real unknown. The black swan is the real unknow

I had read the prequel to this, Die Kunst des klugen Denkens (I think was the title), and I liked that very much. So when I saw this one day at the bookshop at the train station when I had forgotten to bring my own book, I bought it.
52 short chapters on how to look beyond the obvious/not follow the gut feeling/not fall for inaccurate information.
I bought the first book to reread it, and I found out that there is a third book in the series. Once that's out in paperback, I'll get that, too.

The book makes you realize about common errors and behavior that human has. I could agree with all of them however I would work on 80% of them.

It isn't easy stuff to explain and sample are carefully choosen to make it easily.

Spanish translation seems not really good. I founf the book sometimes difficult to underatstand due to wierd grammar.

Biggest takeaways:

Very weak proposal of narrowed mind author. However in 52 recipes I got one interesting. To read a good book more than once. Of course it won't be the case...

Rolf Dobelli wrote a book amazing in its clarity and simplicity. He told us about 52 human mental habits that lead to a variety of negative consequences. The first time I went through pages it felt like a kind of business-science-fiction you can meet everywhere now. And I got prepared for what seemed to be a not so useful reading. Well, that image faded away just after the first three or four stories.

The book is based on the principle of the encyclopedia: chapters are arranged in a random order

Recommends it for: everyone
Was habe ich mich beim Lesen ertappt gefühlt!

I do not agree with all points. I also do not like the tone the author chooses in many parts of the book. At times it seems like a rant agains what he calls "idiots". There are a lot of simplifications in this book that reduce complexity to a level that is not always accurate and helpful. Also the writing style reminds me of boulevard journalism. Many of the short columns appear to fit well in a news paper like "Bild". However, there also many good ideas in this book. Overall, if you can blend o ...more

A very interesting book. Although I did not agree with all chapters and I had a different idea and his aurguments were sometimes not convincing enough for me, there were chapters which really amazed me and made me think: WoW there are so many things about me which I did not know. I really recommend it.

Great book about mind, thinking and reasoning different things to myself. I did not agree with everything in this book, but a lot of chapters catched me unprepared. And after I start review my past decisions. Sadly, book was right. Nevertheless, it is definitely should read kind of book.
