Tough Critic Book Reviews
A book is an author's time, sweat, and tears. It's their baby. How do you tell someone that they have an ugly baby? Furthermore...who's to say that I could have made a better looking kid. Who the hell do I think I am!? I hate these moments.

This book needed some serious revisions; sentence structure, dialogue, plot development. Y'all know me, I'm not a grammar natzi and I'm not starting now. However, it was more about how the sentences were worded and pieced together. I can totally overlook poor

I was given an ARC of Awakened by the author in exchange for an honest review.

I really enjoyed this book, I devoured it in one day, 4 stars for me!!! One word sums up why I enjoyed it so much..STEFAN - gorgeous, 6'4, all muscle, tattoos covering one arm, short dark hair, and rich caramel eyes....HELLO what's not to like?

Awakened is the story of Jennifer, a soon to be College graduate and Stefan, a multi-millionaire owner of a publishing company. Jennifer and Stefan soon develop an intense

I was so excited when I won this book in a game. I've been looking forward to this book and couldn't wait to dive into it. The premise is good and right up my alley.

It started out really well. Jennifer is college student about to graduate from OU. She has a past she would like to forget and her best friend is right there with her. Stefan is hot. He's tall, good looking and filthy rich at the ripe old age of 25.

Everything was building up to be a fantastic story and then it fell apart. I began to

Who wouldn't be lured in by the gorgeousness of this cover? Stunning. Unfortunately, the rest of the book just didn't do it for me. I wanted to like this book like you wouldn't believe. If I had not read the Fifty Shades of Grey series, I probably would have enjoyed it more.

The first part of the book starts out pretty good. I mean, it is set at Oklahoma University, how much better can it get? I might be a bit partial to my alma mater though. It was really cool to actually have been to the places

Terrible. Corny. Awful excuse for a bdsm novel. It was rushed, lacked detail and was extremely unrealistic.
I mean, his 'dominant' character was pathetic and the only word he knows is 'control'. "I need control. All aspects of my life need to be controlled by me. I am a dominant, I must control you."
No one talks like that. This author clearly lacks any verbal range.
Then Jennifer gets attacked by his craxy ex and the entire scene is done in like three paragraphs??? Two pages later they've had

It was good, however some parts felt too rushed and I think the book really could have a lot more work done before it was complete but it was a good book especially for someone at the age of 22. Now granted the author is literally born a couple days before me and I'm the same age but I read alot of different books and this one was good, but for the type of book it has a lot to compete with and I have read better.

Jennifer was kind of annoying sometimes with the way she handled things and there

Ok, so I just finished it and I liked it. There were a few plot problems and there was a couple of character characteristics that I was confused about. I thought Stefan was one way in my head and then he would turn around and get all "naughty" on us. Don't get me wrong I like naughty but he just switched around on me some. Jen, I liked ok. I didn't LOVE her character, she held some frustrations with me. She jumped to conclusions too many times and I wanted to holler and scream at her to just ...more

OK..What could I say about this book then that it was a cheap imitation of "50 Shades of Grey" It duplicated most of the story line, the only difference, that is in another city with different names, and bit of a twist when it come to the story line, but more or less is the same crap..The dominate young millionaire guy who has a distraught past (Stefan)...Stefan love interested is Jennifer, the only difference between Jennifer and Ana from 50 Shades was that Ana was a virgin.. So for those of ...more

I wanted to give this 3.5 stars. I did not love the characters, but I did not hate them. I seemed to really like Kennedy and Ayden--would love to read their story.

I think my issue with the story were the characters or possible the plot. At times I found the story to be confusing. It all over the place. As if it hopped around a lot -- it was back and forth and not enough meat in the middle. It started out pretty good and than fell flat in the middle and then the end picked back up again--just

Don't bother reading this ebook. I stopped reading this half way through, which is rare for me. I've persisted and read some pretty terrible ebooks. I stopped reading it because:

1) it was boring;

2) had frequent autocorrect type errors. i.e. the word in the sentence doesn't make sense, like it was changed by a spell check function to another word, not the word the author intended; and

3) the worst ever descriptions of sex. The 1st sex scene takes up less than half a page from beginning to end.

Plagerized material & characters! Not an experienced writer, sentences structure out of balance. The writer didn't research anything related to dominance. I think she read a couple of books & watched daytime Tv - due to the wording of some characters conversation a square trying to be hip!...

I fell hard for the cover art first, GUILTY! Second was the character Stefan.

Jennifer and Stefan meet while she is almost a college graduate. Stefan is a very young millionaire building his empire. Their relationship reminded me of the movie Intersection, the way the character Richard Gere (Vincent) falls for Lolita Davidovich (Olivia) - just that whirlwind feel their relationship had (not the entire movie or theme/plot) Stefan is used to having his way in all things and does not like to wait.

“Awakened” was a good read. Jennifer is in college in Oklahoma as her way for running away from her childhood memories and past. Stefan is the owner of a publishing company who has his own problems. They meet and the chemistry is there but they have complications that arise in their relationship. You have your stalker ex-girlfriend, killers, rapists, and sociopaths on the loose; put that in with their difference of lifestyles and you the story.
It is a good story but it’s a bit slow at times.

Terribly written - full of typos and grammatical errors. Seemed like it was written by a highschooler. It was almost as if she'd adapted parts of a few other popular erotica/romance books that didn't mesh well together - the college student vibe, the wealthy businessman a la 50 shades (complete with a masquerade ball). The sex scenes were really poor and very repetitive - handcuffs or blindfold with otherwise pretty vanilla sex.

Oh and I seriously doubt they were playing "Russian Roulette" at
I liked this book...I feel like I shouldn't liked it, because it was so much identical to 50 shades (crazy assassin ex, possissive ex, a masquerede ball in his parent's house with an auction, dominance, billionaire, giving a expensive car to the leading female, best friend's parents giving them an apartment...the list is endless), but I actually enjoyed it!

I don't think it's right that the story is so much alike 50 shades, but I got glued to the story, so I'm rating it 3 stars..Hope I can give

This book was like Sylvia days crossfire series on crack... Lol. There were some story discrepancies where if the author might want to do a read through with someone to fill in the skipped parts... It's like the best friends were fighting and not speaking to each other, and then in the next chapter they are best friends...with no reconciliation...

Very alpha dominant guy, and the girl was strong and submissive....

With the blanks filled in it would be a definite 4...

I really tried to finish this because I'm sure the author put her heart and soul into it, and I applaud her for that, but this book is in serious need of some polishing and a GOOD editor. There were so many errors that it took away from my enjoyment of the storyline, so halfway through, I just decided to call it a day and move on to something else.

I really enjoyed this book, but now I am dying to see where she is taking us on the Stefan/Jen roller coaster. It ended with Stefan acting strange (something must be up) and Jen with a huge secret (?). I hope the second book will be out soon as we need to know. Stefan and Jen def had their issues and I hope for all of us they can get their crap together an work out.

Great story but I felt the story was rushed at the end.. There was so much substance in the beginning and middle that the end fell flat for me.. Hoping the continuation clears things up for me..
