This is my second encounter with Mr. Otis King, and I have to recognize that I've enjoyed it as much as the first one. The nine "affairs" included in this book are hilarious and utterly entertaining, with original characters and unexpected conclusions. I like Otis' idiosincracy, his eccentric breakfasts, and his endless list of relatives (mostly aunties) who seem to share an all-purpose wisdom and a most interesting cookbook on bakery. I am really looking forward to reading more of Mr. King's ad ...more

"A Case for the Blues Detective" by Andrew Peters is yet another great selection of cases solved by the fantastic Blues Detective, a Welsh man in Memphis.

Yet more cases from the files of our intrepid Welsh Nationalist blues guitarist cum detective, even a few jobs from his ex to keep him going during tough times. As always trying hard not to upset the local 'friendly' mob bosses and just managing to keep himself alive, Otis staggers, or runs, from one dangerous case to another, pulling truly amazing rabbits out of the hat. None stop chuckles throughout.

Mr Peters excels in the art of the droll. These crime shorts are a perfect medium for his dry wit, with intelligent, clever stories garbed as they are in the ploys of Welsh born blues detective, Otis King, entertaining the reader with adventures in the city of Memphis and beyond. Come away into his office, grab a slug of imperfect celtic bourbon, to wash down his auntie's Welshcakes, or a slice of his leek-and-whatever pizza. The episodes sparkle, and if they don't make you at least smile, check ...more

Born in the swamps of Glamorgan, I have wandered the world, generally with a guitar in hand.
Here I am in a beautiful village in central Spain, where the sun shines, the lake is warm, the drink is cheap and the people and animals are friendly.
