3 Stars...Love, Cookies, and Christmas

Very light reading, yet cute (if you enjoy ultra light feel-good contemporary romances). Kincaid's short story "Sugar and Spice" was the best of the three stories.

The Sugar Cookie Sweetheart Swap is a collection of three stories that all center around three good friends around Christmastime. I'm not always a huge fan of these kinds of romantic reads, but I was definitely (and pleasantly) surprised with how much I enjoyed this book. It has just the right amount of steam, romance, and Christmassy atmosphere to make it an enjoyable December read.

The first thing that drew me in, admittedly, was the cover & title. It sounded cute, and the cover is just as

First of all, thanks to everyone who voted in my very first My TBR List. I'd been looking forward to reading The Sugar Cookie Sweetheart Swap even if it wasn't the book I had personally put a vote in for. Nonetheless, despite it being two months past Christmastime, it still doesn't hurt to read a holiday-themed romance collection--especially one that has to do with cookies!

Even though I was less enamoured with Kate Angell's The Gingerbread Man, it was

✔ Three best girl friends
✔ Small, snowy winter mountain town
✔ Cheesy, predictable, completely implausible romance
✔ Three smoking hot men
✔ Pure Christmas bliss

I have been waiting 12 months for this. There is nothing I love more than over-the-top cheesy, contemporary, Christmas romances. The main characters have to be gorgeous, they have to fall in love in a week (max), and they have to love everything Christmas related. This anthology hit all of these and more. I don't read a lot of anthologies b

A truly delightful combo of three stars in the contemporary romance writers' seen.

If I had to choose the best of three, I would choose Ms. Kincaid. Why? I have become captivated by her works and I am endeavoring to read as many of her works that I can. Do not take this as affront to the other two authors: it is not.

Where There's Smoke by Donna Kauffman:

Just as Where There's Smoke, there's fire, we all know where there's Donna Kauffman, there's a rollicking, sexy read chock-full of charm and sparkle. Kauffman's characters are adorably human and so very magnetic. Clara is clumsy, Will is endearing and the two of them together make for a sweet and genuine story.

I have read anthologies before, but never one that three authors contributed to the same story. It was very entertaining! Best friends Clara, Lilly and Abby are together for the annual Pine Mountain Christmas Cookie swap. It's a fund raiser for the community center, and well attended each year. The best friends have each supplied a tin of their specialties. Abby is presenting her "anatomically" correct gingerbread men her signature cookie, Lilly is a professionall

My thoughts:

I will talk about each story....

Where There's Smoke by Donna Kauffman

Clara is looking for a book at the library when she runs into an old friend, Will. Will is shocked to see Clara and vice versa. Clara is happy at how Will has turned out and Will is happy to have Clara back in his life. He doesn't want to let her go this time. Back in college he never could get up enough courage to tell her how he felt about her. Clara liked the firefighter and was happy to have him back. A great st

I love it when the holiday anthologies start to roll out. They are always such sweet, feel good stories. Several times, I have found authors that I had never heard of before.

There was one major difference between this anthology and most that I have read. In the majority of them, there is a central "theme", but the stories are not interrelated. However, in this book, a

This is one of those books where I'd like the option of more than five stars! Drawn in from the beginning of the prologue, I dove deeper and deeper into life in Pine Mountain and felt woven into the lives of the characters by the time I'd finished all three stories. I do have to tell you I fell in love with Tennyson, who you'll have to meet in The Gingerbread Man by Kate Angell.

Sometimes anthologies are uneven - one book surpassing the rest or a couple of them not hitting my buttons. Not this one! All three stories were sweet, hit the right holiday note and added just the right amount of spice to keep me warm. I think the authors did a superb job of not only writing individual stories that rock around the Christmas tree but they also tied then all together with a big holiday bow. Snappy dialogue, luscious detail and sinfully sexy heroes put this one on my keeper shelf!

I loved this book. Around this time of year I like to read books that help to put you in the mood for the season and this was one of those books. It was nice that each of the three stories went along with each other, as well as the prologue and epilogue tied the stories together perfectly. I am trying to think of which story was my favorite and I am not sure I have one as they were all equally as good as the next. This book I made me crave winter. I wanted to curl up on the couch in front of a nice fire while it’s snowing with a wonderful man of my own and maybe a few anatomically correct gingerbread men. Each story was perfect they didn’t leave you wanting. With being short stories I usually feel as though something is missing. Not here. Just three fantastic make your toes curl romances all rolled into one great book.

This is an anthology of three stories of three friends, loosely tied together with cookie baking. The stories flowed together so good, felt like one story. I will never be able to eat gingerbread cookies without giggles. If you don't have a sweet tooth prior to reading, you will have one by the end. Recipes included in the book.
