Cassandra Clare

Cassandra Clare was born to American parents in Tehran, Iran and spent much of her childhood travelling the world with her family, including one trek through the Himalayas as a toddler where she spent a month living in her father’s backpack. She lived in France, England and Switzerland before she was ten years old.

Since her family moved around so much she found familiarity in books and went everywhere with a book under her arm. She spent her high school years in Los Angeles where she used to write stories to amuse her classmates, including an epic novel called “The Beautiful Cassandra” based on a Jane Austen short story of the same name (and which later inspired her current pen name).

After college, Cassie lived in Los Angeles and New York where she worked at various entertainment magazines and even some rather suspect tabloids where she reported on Brad and Angelina’s world travels and Britney Spears’ wardrobe malfunctions. She started working on her YA novel, City of Bones, in 2004, inspired by the urban landscape of Manhattan, her favourite city. She turned to writing fantasy fiction full time in 2006 and hopes never to have to write about Paris Hilton again.
Cassie’s first professional writing sale was a short story called “The Girl’s Guide to Defeating the Dark Lord” in a Baen anthology of humor fantasy. Cassie hates working at home alone because she always gets distracted by reality TV shows and the antics of her cats, so she usually sets out to write in local coffee shops and restaurants. She likes to work in the company of her friends, who see that she sticks to her deadlines.

City of Bones was her first novel. Sword Catcher is her most recent novel.

I decided to read the manga of Clockwork Angel, instead of re-reading the novel (mostly for the sake of saving myself a bit of time) before continuing on with the series.
I really enjoyed Clockwork Angel, but I didn't really like it in this format at all. There was so much left out, which is understandable considering the different form. Unfortunately because of this it left me quite confused at times, as well as rather irritated with the characters and the rate at which some things occur was portrayed as just unrealistically fast.
I will definitely be continuing with the series (of novels.. I doubt I'll pick up the manga's for the rest of the books to read later on), don't get me wrong! I remember LOVING Clockwork Angel the first time I read it. It works so much better as a novel.

Love, love, love this! xD All TID Fans should NOT miss it! and also anyone who have never read this awesome series. I can tell that the drawing is gorgeous! It might not be the best, but it’s not disappointed me ( at least I’m satisfied how My Will portray here :P )

description

I really want you guys to see the pictures, so I will give you a little some. lol! I try to take the photos from the book with my phone ( those my damn favorite scenes xD ) but it’s not that great. Whatever, lucky me I find some of my favorite scenes on the internet so I will use those and some might be from my phone ( and I have to explain you guys cux I read in Thai :P ) So here we go!

Mostly my favorite scenes might be the funny scenes. Sorry! But they just made me laugh my ass off. lol

Funny Arrogant Will Herodale.. first time he met Tessa.

description

Hahahahaaa… More, More, MORE!!!

13fc6c.jpg

OKay, I have to explain this. Mr. freakin’ Herondale asks his Parabatai that “Can we go out now?”

Jem: “Can I finish tea, first? Why you have to be hurry?”

Will try to tell his Jem, but want poor Tessa to hear, too: “I want to come back before dawn.. Tonight In Soho, I have a date with an attractive one,” *damn you freakin Herondale, He wanna make Tess jealous or hurt damn, damn, damn!*

See how our lovely Tess react and LOOK AT JEMMY!! LOL!

description

HAHAHAHAHAAAAA…

My Giddy Giddy scenes that done something to my heart.

DON’T PRESS IT IF YOU DON’T WANT TO SPOIL YOURSELF! But if you want to know.. it’s up to you. :P

There still are a lot of scenes in the book! And no worry both boys are handsome ( I just love when they show funny expression hahaha lol ) No worry, be happy! :P

Find this manga to read! I highly recommend. :)

I need your help.
There is—There is absolutely no one else that I can ask."

What a coincidence seeing this right after reading a similar scene in TDA.🥺

Ahhhh I loved reading this manga again! To anyone who loved TID, you definitely won’t regret reading the manga version!

Some scenes from the original book were obviously cut but the funny ones I remember were still there, thankfully. Omg and the expressions on their faces.

Tessa's first encounter with Will sdfsd

Six-fingered Nigel:

Will’s hatred of ducks, i cant-

Jem playing his violin.🥺

And just seeing the faces Tessa would make omg-

Of course, I'll always prefer the book to the manga.
I must stay loyal to the true masterpiece.✌

also this helps with my reading challenge

Clockwork Angel ★★★★☆
Clockwork Prince ★★★★★
Clockwork Princess ★★★★★

It's been a few years since I read the TID trilogy in its regular format, and reading this (and then going onto my Goodreads shelves and seeing that I originally only gave Clockwork Angel 3 stars) has me thinking that I really should re-read the series some time in the near future, because I think I might enjoy it more than I did the first time.

My only complaint about this version, and the reason I'm not giving it 5 stars, is how confusing the portrayal of the story is at times. Even as someone who remembered the events of the regular novel pretty well, I felt like this version did a poor job of explaining things at times. It feels evident to me that it's intended only for people who have already read the regular novels, but I appreciate it when adaptations like this can stand on their own.

That said, it's a really fun and enjoyable version of a story I remembered fondly, and I'm definitely interested in reading the manga versions of the other books as well!

Representation: Jem is biracial (Chinese/white), Magnus Bane is Asian and bisexual (though his queerness is only lightly implied in this manga)

Content warnings for: violence, death, addiction, slur usage , and a xenophobic comment is made by a side character

This is going to be a really short review because I’m not feeling like talking about what happened here.

I could have never guessed I’d rate something by Cassie so low. On top of that it’s TID. Like, my favorite trilogy in the entire world. What a sad Sunday.

For someone who loves BW art, I didn’t enjoy the lack of color in this manga.
Now, I’m not that versed in manga, I’m going to be clear here but I just didn’t like it. I felt like it was a parody of Clockwork Angel rather than a based on illustrated story.

I felt offended on Henry’s behalf. The way he was illustrated was so stupid and so emotionless. Granted, I know the man doesn’t have so much of a solid presence in book one but come on. He’s such a darling, I felt so bad.

description

There were times when I didn’t know what I was reading. Even though the dialogues were the same from the book and they made sure to include the well-known quotes, for me it didn’t have the same feeling.

Clockwork Angel was a very slow book but I loved it… this one was just boring for me.

It’s clear I won’t be reading the next two titles.

Or maybe I’ll do it because it’s TID and I’m so weak but yeah, I feel like eating some ice cream to shake this off.

Note to illustrator: When someone puts so much emphasis on a physical characteristic, like so damn much that it’s on the dialogue and there’s a close up of said thing, the least you can do it put some color on it so people can have an idea of what they’re referring to.

Anyone who knows me knows that The Infernal Devices is my all time favorite series. I've been wanting to reread the series for months, but I have been busy trying to get through other books, so I have been putting it off. I recently got the graphic novels from the library to try to placate me in the meantime, and so far, I'm happy I did!

I really enjoyed this first installment of the graphic novels. It was cute, and I think the characters were pretty much on point with the novels. It was a quick read, and it was fun, and it did exactly as I intended - just something that I could read in the meantime until I had the time to sit down and reread the full novels. As this is a different medium than a traditional novel, things had to be cut out, so the story seemed to fly by. In some ways, this was good, but in others, it just made me want more. I am very excited for my reread of the actual book that will hopefully come in the next month or so!

If you are a fan of The Infernal Devices, I recommend this book because it was cute and did a good job portraying the events of Clockwork Angel.

*** Warning: this review contains scans ***

Truth, I love manga but hate books adaptation into graphic novels. You have the feeling the author is mocking you by creating new extras which are completely useless, except with Clockwork Angel.
The Infernal Devices is a fantasy streampunk series which took place in London. Every of these elements are accurate and fit very well with the manga style. Those who read Kuroshitsuji (Black Butler in english) know what I'm talking about.

Otherwise there's nothing more to say. Same story, same characters and same emotional wreck. So I though I should drop by few scans:

Favorite: "Everyone has something they can't live without. I'll found out what it is for you."

Jem playing violon

Very interesting Will moment

Some sexy action

BRO 4 LIFE

Jem and Tessa

Will

and Tessa

Note: though it doesn't deserve all the starts because it isn't in R to L like the traditional mangas. I know it's an adaptation for North America and UK but at least do it with all the encodes.

Ah yes, what a delightful trip down memory lane that was!

Of course, the manga's got nothing on the way the book itself made me feel all those years ago (I'm making it sound like it's been decades aha), but it was the perfect companion to rekindle my love for these precious characters. (*fangirl in me squealing MY BABIESSSSS in the distance*)

This actually happens to be my first ever manga and while I can't deny that the monochrome layout put me off a bit at first (especially when they teased us with two glorious pages of color first!!!), the art style is definitely right up my alley and enough to leave me wanting more.

Despite having read all the books and knowing what happens next, that god-awful cliffhanger still managed to frustrate me nearly just as bad as the first time; I NEED ME A COPY OF THE SEQUEL'S MANGA ASAP.

Buuut alas, a wee skimming of Clockwork Prince should do the trick for now c:

I try to express only my most honest opinion in a spoiler-free way. Unfortunately, there is still always a risk of slight spoilers despite my best efforts. If you feel something in my review is a spoiler please let me know. Thank you.

Loved it. I had read The Infernal Device series in the original novel form and loved it. But to be able to get a visual of everything going on is just great. I wanted to read the manga adaption for a while but I couldn't find the 3rd book so I put it on hold, but right now all 3 books are on Kindle Unlimited. YAY! So I finally get to read this series. I admit that the appearance of the characters are different than I imagined, but this is a manga and they have a certain style. I will be reading the next in series soon.

It's been a while since I read the books, but it's always a good idea to revisit the Shadowhunter world (especially Will Herondale and James Carstairs)!

The manga of Clockwork Angel was a quick read and I mostly liked the art a lot. Sometimes it was a bit confusing though, some colored pics here and there would have been great because sometimes everything looked the same.

The story was of course shortened a lot, but all the important revelations and plotlines were included. I liked reading this but I didn't love it.
Oh, and I'm still torn between Will and Jem. I love them both and this is actually the only acceptable love triangle in ya fantasy.
