This is book two of the Mystic series. A set of New Adult Paranormal novellas that discuss the ugly truth of things happening in the world all around us, showing how strong women can make a difference.

Lily Conyers is a twenty-year-old who has it all going for her. One wrong decision changes her life forever. When she meets a strange young woman named Markaza, Lily begins to re-build with encouragement from her new friend.

One rough night, Lily finds a letter on her step from a company called WSTW; promising her a new life.

Lily packs her bags, bids Markaza goodbye, and sets off for the city. But going to New York is only the first hurdle Lily must jump. She must learn to use the power inside herself to help defeat an evil that is threatening to destroy the world. Once in New York, she meets a girl named Bronya and the two help one another re-build what was so negligently broken.

As Lily is boarding the plane, Markaza gets on another headed to Tennessee so she can collect the next young woman on her list: Shelia.

Jo Michaels loves writing novels that make readers gasp in horror, surprise, and disbelief. While her browser search history has probably landed her on a list somewhere, she still dives into every plot with gusto, hoping "the man" will realize she's a writer and not a psychopath about to go on a rampage. Her favorite pastimes are reading, watching Investigation Discovery, and helping other authors realize their true potential through mentoring. She's penned the award-winning Pen Pals and Serial Killers series and the best-selling educational book for children, Writing Prompts for Kids, which has rocketed the kids that use it into several awards of their own.

Most of Jo's books feature the places she's lived: Louisiana, Tennessee, and Georgia. That's given her a special amount of insight to what makes those locations tick. Her works are immersive and twisty, and she wouldn't want it any other way.

The story of Lily picks up where Bronya left off. We see the main character Lily struggle with a big change in her life that left her unsure of where her place was in the world. We also find that people are not always what they seem to be such as fake friends who would rather laugh, ridicule, belittle, and be hateful of a person they claim to be friends with. In this book, we see a turning point for not only Lily but for Markaza and Bronya too. Here are my thoughts:

Lily Conyers thought she had it all working as a model that was in demand. She thought she had great friends and boyfriend that care for her. Lily is a bit self-absorbed at this point in her life yet treats everyone with kindness and grace. One night Lily made a life changing mistake that nearly cost her life and her boyfriend's life too. Now several months later, Lily has withdrawn from the world completely only cares about getting her morphine fix to deal with the pain. Markaza sees a bright, smart, and kind person in Lily even if she doesn't see it yet. Markaza takes steps to get Lily the help she needs right now and to push her into the right direction too. Lily completes rehab and is thinking of the future. Markaza suggest Lily into collages and Lily likes the idea. Lily finally agrees to see her boyfriend and she's full of hope and earger to make amends with him. When her boyfriend turns the date into a hate fest with all of the friend's Lily has seen in a while. Everyone of her friends all believe that Lily is so shallow and doesn't care about anyone but herself. Lily knows differently and tries to defend herself. Lily receives a letter from WSTW regarding scholarship and place to stay in New York. Will Lily allow others to ruin her new found dreams? Will Lily accept WSTW's offer? Can Markaza meet up with next young woman? How does Lily like New York? Your answers await you in Lily.

Each story in the Mystic series deals with a woman who has endured some type of tragedy. Lily’s fall from grace revolves around her becoming scarred after getting into a drunk driving accident. Her modeling career is over and she has to learn how to love this new scarred version of herself. It was touching to see her growth as a character and to witness how she comes to fully appreciate her inner beauty.

I would’ve liked more backstory on Lily. I’m interested to know what kind of person she was before the accident including more about her relationship with Wilhelm and her friendships. Overall, more character development was needed in order to lend believability to how awful her boyfriend and friends treated her after the accident. I also think that Markaza and Lily’s friendship was too instantaneous. I was surprised at how easily Lily let the girl take over her life. I felt in Bronya, the two girls got to know each other in a more natural and realistic manner.

The prose is easy to read and flows at a great pace. The descriptions were well done, especially the ones involving Markaza’s visions. The end of the book was a nice set-up for the next one and I’m eager to see what happens when all of the gifted girls come together.

Lily is the second novella in the Mystic Series by Jo Michaels. This book is EXCELLENT! I could NOT put it down, I literally absorbed every page, grabbed the next book in the series and completed all 5 of them in one day, needless to say I did not get any sleep. But when I was finished I nearly cried because I would have to wait for book 6 to be released with Markaza's story. eeek I do not do well having to wait!

In Lily we have a young girl who has been in a disfiguring accident and is now suffering from addictions. She meets Markaza and that is where the story becomes more than just a drug addiction story.

Markaza is a very special girl and she has the ability to see the future, she knows she needs to collect certain girls and form a group to defeat a future evil, and Lily happens to be one of the girls.

Markaza comes into her life and well... I won't tell you any more for fear I will spoil the book for you. But trust me when I say you will eat these books up. The characters and their troubles are extremely realistic, and I could relate to quite a few of the issues these women all face.

So what are you waiting for? Go grab yourself a copy!

Lily is the second novella in the Mystic Series by auhor Jo Michaels. This book had me in tears many times throughout and to say that the Character grabbed me by the heart is an understatement. I am beyond impressed how the author could bring out so many emotions in such a short time. These novellas fit together perfectly like a puzzle and I am amazed that I am so emotionally vested after only two novellas. The writing and character development is spot on and the story continues to intrigue me. If you haven't started this series, I highly recommend you grab them, sit down, and get ready for an emotional ride on this NA journey.

Being from San Diego, I know first hand how shallow people can be. When you're a teenager and twenties it's all superficial and doesn't take until growing up that beauty runs much deeper. Though fiction, I related to Lily and not because of the same home town. She's a model but we were both bullied by our appearance and humiliated so I must admit that I was in tears. Happy when she was able to move on with her life.

Even if these are short novellas, you get hooked and pulled into the story. Jo Michaels is an exceptional writer and puts so much detail and emotion into her world.
