Book three left the academy campus during winter break and took acting and drama lover Kat to a movie shoot in the company of the less than stellar Josh Wickham as his assistant. Kat learns more than how to make movies and act on the set with her encounters with Josh, Izzie and Henry the show's stars. She returns to Jane Austen Academy with a new appreciation for the school, her friends and most of all herself.

As with the others, I strongly advice getting them in order so best enjoy the series a

When I’m With You: A Modern Retelling of Northanger Abbey is the third book of the Jane Austen Academy Series. Cecilia Gray brings this Regency classic to the present day, putting her spin on it in a fun and clever way!

Kat Morley is a star on stage, at least she is at the Jane Austen Academy. She knows her characters and delivers their lines well, but in real life she doesn’t quite fit in. She never knows what to say, and often feels like an outsider. She agrees to spend her Christmas holiday h

Kat is determined to become a successful actress. Acting has been a passion as long as she can remember, so when famous classmate Josh Wickham offers to let her be his assistant on a real movie set over Christmas break, there is no way she can refuse him. She'll be onset with famous actors and actresses and maybe she'll get her big break.

As the third novel in this series, all the characters are pretty well established. We get n

I have to say that The Jane Austen Academy Series has been such an enjoyable series to read, and When I'm With You, the third installment in the series, did not disappoint. When I'm With You is Cecilia Gray's version of a modern day retelling of Northanger Abbey. This story focuses on Kat Morley, one of the girls from the Academy. It is Christmas break and most of the girls are going home to spend time with family. Kat is on the drama team and is very good, having had the lead roll in all the sc ...more

So, I'm a big Jane Austen fan and I've lately been reading quite a bit of modern retellings as I find I love them just as much because the themes really do carry over well and we all need our Austen "fix" every once and a while. So, I literally did a little happy dance when I found out about a series dedicated to modern retellings of Miss Austen's works. This was the first book I'd read in the Jane Austen Academy series, but I also purchased the first book on Kindle and plan on reading it soon a ...more

When I'm With You is another total hit for Cecilia Gray! Lord knows I love this series. I love how each girl goes through their own sets of growing pains and in that they learn something very valuable that they can take with them. I have been captivated by this series since book one and in this one we meet Kat. I love how Kat grows and matures in this one. She wants to be an actress and she is very good at it. She wants it so bad she can taste it. So when Josh asks her to be his Personal Assista ...more

This is absolutely my favorite of the series so far. I adored Kat's character, and even more than that I adored Henry's character.
I thought that how Izzy was portrayed was perfect, and all of the characters worked well together.
Kat had some great growth through this novel, and also seeing her relationship develop with Henry was brilliant.

It isn't simply the wonderfully written characters which made this so great though, it was also the way that Northanger Abbey was intepreted in this novel.

This is a modern NA retelling, part 3 in the JAA series, and my favourite installment so far. I loved Kat - she was a credible modern version of Catherine Morland - and her quest for her own indentity. Henry was great as well, and Josh Wickham served as a perfect foil for him. The only thing I was not so sure about was Izzy - I could not work her out. She is Isabella Thorpe, and the she is not - or is she? I wonder if she is going to make an appearance in the next books. Also, the epilo

When I’m With You is the third book in the Jane Austen Academy series. I really enjoyed this book. I think it is well known by now that I am really love this series. The writing is great and the characters make the stories come alive. The third installment in this series is the same in those two aspects but overall it had a different feel from the first two books. This book takes place away from the academy, and many of the main characters were gone. Kat tags along with Josh over winter break wh ...more

Kat Morley was born to be a star. She’s been the lead in the Jane Austen Academy school plays every spring and fall since she joined and she knows that she has what it takes to be a famous actress. When she’s given the chance to be a personal assistant to a fellow student and get to spend her winter break on a real life film set, Kat jumps at the chance. This might be her opportunity to get her big break. Cute boys, diva starlets and the pesky paparazzi threaten to ruin Kat’s break and Kat is le ...more

The romance was the least interesting part of this book by far, though I did find Kat's internal/external life really interesting and relatable. I little too far from the original context of Northanger Abbey for me.

First I have to say OH MY GOODNESS. MY NAME IS IN A BOOK! If you check out the acknowledgements in the latest installment of the Jane Austen Academy, you'll see ANGIELEIGH.

THAT'S ME!!!

Now that I've had my moment...

I don't really recall Kat from the other books; I'm not sure if she wasn't really mentioned or if she was just so unimportant to me that I blocked out her name. This was the first in the series so far to be mostly set outside

Book Review: When I’m with You by Cecilia Gray

Kat Morley is the lead actress in all the plays at the Jane Austen Academy. Her dream is to be an actress in Hollywood. So imagine her excitement when Josh Wickham invites her to be his Personal Assistant over Christmas Break for a movie he is shooting. Kat is over the moon. It becomes all she talks about.
When she gets on set she meets the other stars of the movie, Izzy Engel and Henry Trenton. Izzy is famous and Kat wants to be just like her. Henry

This another book in the Jane Austen Academy Series but is perfect as a stand alone as it only has a few references to the Academy. Kat the female main character isn't part of the main group of girls so we've never seen her before. She wants to be an actress, knows how to be in the spotlight and is always the lead in the school plays, a renowned theater company. This year, during Christmas break, she's going to be movie star (A- to B+ lister) Josh Wickham's PA while he tries to revive his dying ...more

Cute. Adorable. Genius. Amazing. I'm running out of synonyms. The book was just wonderful!

Can I just say that Cecilia Gray is a genius for writing this magnificent book? I thought making Kat an actress was definitely the right angle for retelling Northanger Abbey by Jane Austen.

When I'm With You is the third book in the Jane Austen Academy series, and a retelling of Northanger Abbey. I've only read the original twice and I haven't picked it up for a long time, so I don't know if I will be able to comment of similiarities and differences to Northanger Abbey. Anyway, I definitely enjoyed Kat's story.

Kat Morland is a student at the Jane Austen Academy. Her best friend is Fanny. Kat is passionate about acting, has been the lead

Kat is star crazy and waiting for her big break to become an actress. So, when Josh Wickham invites her to be his assistant at a movie set over winter break, Kat is more than excited. But getting coffee, ironing suits, and highlighting lines on the movie script at six a.m. is not how Kat envisioned it! But then extras are needed on set, and Kat knows this might be her big chance to get noticed!

Another sweet and charming Jane Austen Academy novel! This time with adventures outside the school!!

This is the first book I have read in the Jane Austen Academy series and I have to say, I thoroughly enjoyed it. When I’m With You is a modern-day retelling of the Jane Austen classic “Northanger Abbey”. Unfortunately, I haven’t yet read Austen’s original – though I have read several of her books and consider myself a fan. So, my perspective on this book has absolutely nothing to do with how well it reproduces the original in modern day.

Kat is a star-in-the-making. She has had the lead role in t

I have to say I haven't read any of the other books in this series so I wasn't really sure what to expect. As shameful as it is I have never read any of the famous Jane Austen books so I wasn't quite sure what to expect. This book is the third in a series but you don't have to read the first two in order to understand it.

"When I'm With You" is the third book in the Jane Austen Academy series. It is a young adult retelling of Jane Austen's Northhanger Abbey (have I ever told you guys about how enamored I am of retellings? they are just so much fun). Although this book is the third in the series, for the most part it is a stand alone story. When I'm With You is the third book in the Jane Austen Academy series and Kat's story. This is also different from the first two books because it takes place away from the school.

Kat is the star of every school play but has quickly realized she isn't the star in real life. She is actually a loner minus her best friend Fanny and even she is growing more fond of the other girls even though Kat isn't. So when Josh, the resident movie star, invites her to be his personal assistant for his next role,

When I'm With You is the third book in the series which focuses on Jane Austen Academy's theatre star, Kat Morley. She has talent and her dream is to have her big break on the big screen. Her character is quite ambitious but I love her for being focused and determined to reach her goal.

This may not be my favorite in the series, probably because I missed the academy feel (I missed the girls!!). The story took place outside the academy where Kat became Josh' perso

I think I enjoyed When I'm With You even more than the first two books in this series. Northanger Abbey is far from my favorite Austen novel, but I really enjoyed this updated version. Kat is still naive, but instead of being enamored with gothic novels, she's in love with acting and being the center of attention. Josh Wickham appears as yet another bad guy (John Thorpe this time), but the only other characters who made the cut were Isabella, Henry, Henry's father (all as fellow actors). Izzy an ...more

I LOVED this book! I’ve read the first 4 books in this series, and this is definitely my favorite.

There was something about Kat that I connected with. I thought she was so passionate about life. I could not act to save my life so we definitely didn’t have that in common, but I respected her passion to entertain and be true to herself. She didn’t really know who she was at first so watching that journey was great. She was also kind to others even if they weren’t

I think I enjoyed this installment of the Jane Austen Academy Series the best. There are currently only four installments and my favorite Jane Austen novel is yet to come.

Kat, Catherine Morland's modern equivalent in this tale, is very different than her classical counterpart. For one, she isn't poor. On the other hand, she does still have a taste for drama, both personal and on the stage. So when she gets a chance, via an invitation from the Academy's resident romantic bad guy and movie star, J

Now we have Kat’s story! This one didn’t hit me as well as the others did. I thought the pacing and plot development was a bit slower. But maybe I’m already biased to the Jane Austen Academy! Even with thinking this was a tad slower, I still loved the plot.

Kat is a bit of a mess though and it took me longer to actually like her! I don’t know what it was but I just didn’t feel the connection that I felt with the first two. But as the story progresses and you get to know more about her, I started
