*opens book, looks at first word* Aw, damn. It’s multiple first person. Oh well.

And Mick is melodramatically whiny right away. I am not taking issue with Mick’s pain or even the fit he pitches once he’s alone, but I do with his phrasing and the way he presents himself. Such bad writing, such a marked difference to the first two books – which were not great but hugely more appealing in attitude, voice and writing.

What also gets to me is that in the first book Alex and Mick had not been together all that long. And now they present it like it’s been ages.

It was very tasteful, thick silver woven with diamonds and sapphires the same color as Beck’s eyes, with an engraved plate that said my name and had my family’s crest on it.

*snicker* I am sorry but going by that description there’s no way the thing is tasteful.

I did not like the tone much but the story differed enough from the preceding books to be interesting. All in all that was enough to somewhat make up for my earlier irritation.
Plus it looks like the next volume will deviate further – among other things by dealing with two entirely new characters, one of which was only thrown in at the end here, while the other’s still a blank.

Here we finally find out how Mick takes the news and deals with the aftermath of Alex but we see how Beck feels.

I DID NOT FEEL THIS at all. The role reversal to be was.. bad.
Examples:
Who needs Christmas series by Joyee Flynn.. the elves are the dominate ones but are the smaller of the pairs
Pocket-Sized Prince by Stormy Glenn... alpha is not the typical alpha and always seems to be underestimated

I'm guessing the author didn't want to copy previous work in any way but it doesn't work for this. Not only is Mick seeming to be constantly in pity party mode but he likes to mostly bottom but be in charge. But, again... you don't really see it. It's more like just a bit authoritative (just at times). It's the attitude that makes the dominate/alpha personality and Mick does not display any of that to me to quantify Beck 'taking' orders and subing to him.

Oh COME ON! Mick, seriously? I was SO excited about this book. Did it live up to my expectations? Nope. I am so bummed.

He is supposed to be this big bad lust demon, but I just saw him as a selfish brat. Sure Beck shouldn't have sprung his feelings on him, but a month of his pity party for one was enough. I am not sure why Beck put up with him to be honest.

I am bummed cause I really wanted to like this one :(

A good addition to the series. I've been waiting forever to read this book (yea yea it's only been 2 years from book 2's release) and it did not disappoint. It can get a bit tiring reading about Mick and his self pity trips but it's well worth the read and just to see how Mick and Beck's relationship will play out.

Mick finally got his story! So excited! I was surprised at the turn Mick and Beck's relationship took, but I enjoyed it.
