This was a lovely read by a debut author. A Bridge of Her Own was told in a narrative style that left me feeling like I made a new friend in Jane, the main character. Likable and real, Jane's story is full of growth, heartbreak, and self-discovery. Her story took me back to that precious and often painful time of late adolescence and early adulthood, when we are uncertain about our paths, when we make bad choices, and then are forced to move on and hopefully grow from them. It was full of humor ...more

I couldnt finish it!! I didn't get past the first couple of chapters... I couldn't keep reading about such a weak, spineless 'heroine'...

Jane is living with her roommate Lacey loving life. She went out which she normally wouldn't do and meets a great guy. The next day she goes to her parents for lunch and there sitting on the couch is her ex. What was he doing? This story tells about how Jane got to this point and what happens next. This is a great novel for a first time author.

First of all...Wyatt Huntington III, you are one of the biggest jerks to ever walk this earth, and I despise you!

Now that that's out of the way...

I loved this book. It was a hopeful, sweet, inspiring read that was exactly what I needed right now. I was sucked in immediately and couldn't stop reading!

I identified with this novel's heroine from the very beginning, when she began dating and quickly lost her virginity to that absolute DICKHEAD Wyatt. This scene was written in such an honest way; it

A Bridge of Her Own by Carey Heywood

Jane grew up sheltered, shy and really didn't make any major decisions in her own life, trying to be a good girl and please her mother was important to her.

Heading off to college and being so sheltered she entered a relationship and ended up always trying to please him. Wyatt was a a hole, her roomate and bestfriend tried to steer her in the right direction but let her make her own choices.

So I liked the story, I found the writing a bit too much and I wanted

Well firstly I read it in a day! (I'd tried to start it before Christmas but time wasn't on my side) From the beginning I liked Jane, its nice to read a character who isn't instantly the popular or confident girl and she's just the kind of likeable girl I enjoy reading about. It's a great book for friendships, yes there's men and relationship drama but unlike so many books it doesn't dominate the story. I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves a good chick-lit book and one with great dyn ...more

I love this book! It was the first time I read a book that was written in 3rd person but I loved it! This book showed me how important friendship is. Lacey and Jane are the best friends ever and I am so glad that Jane stood up for herself and waved goodbye to Wyatt and started making art again. Thank you Carey for writing this amazing story! I love it!!

Ooh and btw Gabe is awesome!!! 🙂

What a complete waste of time. Trust me. Don't go there. Badly written.

I have many things to say first I really enjoyed the inflection this book had. I believe the depth of the emotion really got to me. I was a little irritated in the beginning because of my intolerance to Jane. I felt that she should have been looking from others point of view instead of blowing them off. However, I see now that many of us do it constantly, because it is our life and we know what we are doing. I guess for many of us we have to learn from our own mistakes and maybe friends need to ...more

First let me say, I love Carey Heywood. I have read a few of her books that were absolutely outstanding. This one however seemed like it was a first attempt. It felt rushed and the editor did not do a very good job if at all. There is a great story here, of finding yourself. I was raised kind of like Jane was. I can relate to that aspect. The grammatical errors and misspellings made me go back and reread many lines. This distracted from the story. The ending was just........blah. No epilogue, no ...more

There was lot of small details that made me feel like it could've been written better. There are passages that would've been better with dialogue and some stuff is repeated although you already now it, such as Jane's parents living close to her and her visiting them regularly. Sometimes I feel as if the author took long breaks between some sections and couldn't remember what she had already told the reader. It feels hastily written and some chapters are much better than others, which leads to a ...more

This story A Bridge of Her Own is a good story about a woman learning about herself. It shows how strong a female can be and also how herself worth can be put to the test. You know the old saying, 'Love is Blind'. You would have to read this story and see if Jane's love for Wyatt is worth leaving her identity behind or does she like the way he molds her. I gave this story three stars because the story contains more telling of how events unfold rather than showing. Thank You Carey Heywood for a g ...more

I have fallen in love with Carey's other novels and this one is no different. The way she conveys a girl’s first love is so truthful. Lacey is always there for Jane no matter the situation and friends like that are very hard to come by. I’m glad Jane finally found her voice and was able to stand up for herself even with the help of Lacey. I hope everything works out for Gabe and Jane and that stupid Wyatt stays out of the picture.

I just couldn't finish the book. I thought after the first couple chapters it would get better, but I could not get into it. I have liked all of the authors other books, but not this one. There was too much telling what was happening and not enough dialogue. I only made it half way through before skimming the last couple chapters to see what happens. It felt like a long monotone lecture.

I enjoyed this book it gives true meaning of which bridge she should take or burn, the thing that got on my nerves was that Jane needed to be more upfront and stopped being a push over, the written has left it where she could of carried on writing I want to know more about Jane and gabe what happened next with them, over all a very good written book

Wow! What a cliffhanger. And there's no follow up book? And that was not a short book to read and just ended like that.
