Many of the editions by this group of authors are actually guides to books rather than the works.

If the author of the SparkNotes is known, they should be the first author. Please leave these SparkNotes Editors as the second author and the author of the original work as the last author. Do not combine with the original work. Do not put the author of the ORIGINAL work first.

I find these chapter by chapter guides helpful when navigating a large or difficult novel, especially when listening to an audiobook version.

However, there are several errors or fringe views in the commentary here. For instance, the book claims Porfiry Petrovich is first and foremost a slavophile who wants Raskolnikov to become a great person in service of Russia.

I think the online guide by Shmoop is better.
