Amazing series! steamy, enjoyable, beautiful and a romantic story of both leading characters' struggles with lives ups/downs and their journey through the years of being tested...well written..highly recommend to everyone
So, let me start with the things I would have changed:

1) There were a few more sex scenes than necessary. I'm all for some steam when it exists for a reason (furthering character development, deepening relationships, etc.), but there were at least 4, possibly 5, very detailed scenes with no narrative purpose other than "eh, it's steamy."

2) There were a number of scenes that read like public service announcements. There's certainly room for LGBTQ+ education on a variety of topics in a variety of

This was long. Real long. Clocking in at over 700 pages long. But surprisingly I was pretty interested for most of it, as I felt I was a given this private glimpse into someone else's day-to-day life for a few days......a fly on the a voyeur into a couple's personal relationship-building journey. Does that make me a creep? I feel a little like a creep.

The short description of this book is completely relevant actually. We see it all in this book.....young love, denial, anger,

Ok. I knew the last 3% was gonna be emotional. Good thing I did it at home cause I don't think my blubbering would be so well received at work or in public. I am afterall quite the tenderheart. I own it. It's who I am. And this book seriously resonates with my soul. It's just that good. I can't mash the above 5 star button because it just doesn't exist.

Not sure how to break this book down to it's parts. I had a rough time with the teenage years for obvious reasons. My empathatic nature makes it

5-description LOVED IT!

This is a beautiful story that starts with the instant connection between two young girls (eleven yrs old) that meet in school and build a lifelong relationship. There is a very slow and thorough character creation of each of the main characters; Natalia and Bridget. Bridget accepts her feelings for Natalia right away but Natalia struggles with her feelings for Bridget and cannot accept it at first. Natalia's struggles are due in part to the bigoted and overbearing personality of her

I absolutely loved this book and it surprised me how much I enjoyed it. It was long but I never felt like any part of the book was unnecessary. Absolute fav
Wonderful journey through the years of Natalie and Bridget's love story!

Brilliant! When I first started reading this book it took a little getting used to the switch in the way it is written; are we reading from Natalia's perspective or is this a narration? But then you see it's from Natalia's perspective and I love this girl. We're with her through her struggles, her heartbreak, her self acceptance, even her learning about who she is and I'm not just talking her sexuality I'm talking the way she realises how when something hurts her she snaps and then pretends ...more

This book is fantastic. It as realistic story line and as great characters, that you will warm too very quickly.

Except for Delores... she's a bitch.

The book is long. There's no rushing or skipping certain areas by just giving you a quick explanation, it does go into some detail, but I think this is what makes this book appealing to me.

I loved Taking the Long Way. Bridget and Natalie are great characters. I enjoyed all the current social issues that are touched on. I loved that the book is long.
While I really did like this book it was way, way, way too long. I did not need chapters after chapters of the same thing repeated... a good editor would have made the book tighter with less repetition and more interesting overall. Very hot however lol

Long but definitely worth it. Beautifully written it almost feels like a movie. Watching Natalia and Brij grow really touched my heart.

I couldnt finish this book. I abandoned it after being more than 600 pages in, so it's fair to say I gave it a more than decent shot. Also, I never abandon books. I think this was only the second time in the last few years I've had to give up on one. It took me weeks to get halfway just because it was so.... blah. Thats the only word I can use to describe the love story, the plot, the characters, literally all of it. merp.

I have never written a review before but i had to write one for this. Even though their lives start at school, Lily has gradually made the characters Natalia and Bridget grow and mature in their own ways. N-taaal-ya is a great character and it gave me immense pleasure to read about her and the way her's and Brij's lives progress. Inspite of the book being 675 pages looooong, it was worth it. I simply COULD NOT put the book down. I would recommend this one definitely!!
Loved the story (Brittana-inspired). I felt that story could use a little trimming as there were parts that could've the book can do without. 4.5 :D

The book is pretty good, there were parts where it moved me to tears. It would have been better if it was a little shorter. Having said that, I will be reading the sequel, Me and You and Daisies.

maybe i am such a sucker for a good romance. this made me believe that anything is possible, that happy endings are not that farfetched and not only for a certain set of archetypal characters.

Very strong four stars.
A long story of a girl becoming woman. The way there was long and I could actually "see" the characters development with the help of author's remainders. I think if this was a book about a hetero sexual couple it wouldn't be anything special, but it was not. That's why it is a little special because there aren't many good writers of this "new generation genre" so that's also why i think the author deserves raising and recognition for her writing. It was a nice book, but

3 days into reading. Like the name has suggested, it’s also been a long way for me too. Reading this brings the emotional side of me that I never regarded as real before. I feel like an attachment to those two characters; I got to know about them when they were so little to teenagers to broke young adults and to proud and married adults. Through their sadness and happiness, I got to see that love isn’t what it’s like in most novels state and in fact, they’re ugly at times. I’m so glad I picked ...more

It has been a while since I've read this book and it is one of those I can't wait to go back to, I remember reading it in High School while we were reading The Great Gatsby and just read this one instead, and I remember it being a fanfic too but kudos to the author for an interesting story

It was flat. Too much pointless sex. No real plot. No real story.

Free book on Goodreads. This book was just too long. I feel like the second half just drug on and on. Overall the story itself was good, I just wish it had been more condensed. There were a few typos but also as the story progressed there were more notations of the date (the month and year usually), I wish the beginning had been like that as well, I'm not sure if that was intentional or by accident, and she forgot to go back and add dates. It was interesting to follow Natalia and Bridget ...more

I enjoyed this book more than I thought I would. It is truly a journey from childhood to adulthood, starting from the rough part of self-acceptance. I found it sweet and encouraging in general, although some parts were heartbreaking. It has a little of everything, parts that are sweet, funny, hot, tender, sad... I like that I felt a lot of things while I was reading it, and most of the time I've been very happy and I've always ended up with a stupid smile on my face.

The book got some heft to it and with that, some additional pages to develop some great characters. We also get to see these characters on a progressive journey not only through a relationship but also through life, something that is often (understandably) missing from shorter books. "Life" as a whole could be seen as the theme of the book. It's consistent and enjoyable throughout, one that ill fondly remember.

Note: There is a sequel but this one felt very much complete on its own.

A great romance though at times heartbreaking. I loved the strong relationship, good sex scenes, and happy ending. Really long, it took me ages to read. The story spans from the time they're kids until the time they're almost 30, so is quite slow moving and often day-to-day/monotonous. Not a thrilling plot but just a beautiful life story incorporating the struggles of life.

A wonderful love story. A story of true love that survives everything no matter what life throws at them. It more importantly depicts a normal life between two women who love each other deeply no matter what comes their way. I love the book because it is relatable to my life, with my wife, who loves me no matter what.
