She was destined to be his
Until the day she disappeared
Saved by the gray-eyed warrior
She is returned to her past
To a life she’d dreamed of …

Grey Gunn gave up hope of ever finding Albrey Mackay. He vowed never to forget the sprightly lass and so he reconciled his life to what all great lairds should – warring and protecting his clan. When he finds out his enemy is betrothed, he vows, a bride for a bride.

Bree doesn’t recollect her young years. All she knows is a betrothal has been arranged to the MacHeth Laird. He’s a brutal man who wants to use her as a pawn to overthrow King Alexander in a feud that began twenty years prior with his father, King William. Her only chance to thwart the marriage is to barter for protection of the Gunn Clan.

As Bree gets to know the hardened chieftain, Grey Gunn, she is astounded by the love of a clan she never knew she had. But is that love enough to let go all the pain and begin living the life she was destined to with her One & Only?

Stopped at 10% after noticing some issues that had me concerned this book would hit my triggers.

Took a chance because of the title.. which I found is quite deceiving and inaccurate actually. It is NOT my personal definition of "One and Only" when the hero screws around during separation and has bastards.

GR reviews were useless. Checked Amazon reviews - Found:
OW issues.
Hero has bastard,
timeline way off
historical accuracy lacking
major editing issues
whimpy heroine
overload of "cooking" references.

My personal overservations:

-Editing issues
-Timeline problems.
-I didn't buy that one loses their memeories of who their parents are at 5 years old.
-The dialogue is written with tons of ye's nay's and such, which I don't mind but others may not like.
- The whole relationship between the 5 year old h and 10 year old hero in the beginning totally creeped me out..

I trust what most reviewers said that what started out like a good book went downhill super fast. I can totally see it coming.

I choose not to waste my time.

Not for me

++Can't say for certain, but I would bet my last dollar this book is not safe++

It was a decent free read. I love highlander novels, and I did like the overall story. It did seem she pushed the romance a bit too quickly. Bree was adamant about wanting her own cottage so that she wouldn't be sinning, and then....she suddenly forgets about the damnation of her soul and doesn't hesitate to roll in the hay. Hell...just marry him and it wouldn't be a sin!

Nevertheless, beyond some of my frustrations with Bree's actions, it was still a good story, and I won't lie....I shed a few tears.

Awesome

This was an amazing book. I often say that some books have everything... action, romance, a good plot and give them 5 stars. I would give this book 5+ stars easily. If I could I would put this book against any of the high profile authors out there who write historical fiction. It’s that good. There are a few grammar errors that could be touched up but that would be my only complaint. I hope you enjoyed this book as much as I did!!!

I really enjoyed this highlander book. This starts out with an infant Albrey being left to cared for by another Family. Skip ahead five years and it was very sweet to read about how ten year old Grey Gunn was to be betrothed to five year old Albrey. He was her protector and loved her fiercely already. But one fine day while Albrey is napping she is taken. Poor Grey is beside himself. He was suppose to be watching her.

This book was engaging from page one. It had some twists and turns. Yes Bree (Albrey) and Grey fell for each other fairly quickly it was a sweet romance. Grey was a so protective and sweet. While poor Bree was struggling to figure out who she really was. Nothing in her life was what she thought it was. The side characters, Greys friends and guards were a treat. They had me smiling on more than one occasion. Plenty of action and drama, light on the sexy times.

Wow, I couldn't get into this book. I liked the hero, but the heroine was way to whiny. She was really stubborn about her past and being kidnapped as a very little girl. She didn't want to believe the hero about anything at all. Another reviewer mentioned the cooking. All the heroine talked about CONSTANTLY was cooking. I was tired of reading about her cooking. Didn't care for it.

So touching!

Kara Griffin wrote such a great book. Brew and Grey are wonderful. Their story is so touching. True love prevails. His guard is fantastic as well, I look forward to reading Kenneth's story.
