A sometimes entertaining and sometimes heartbreaking overview of the nitty gritty of twentieth century women's lives. A good starting point for further study.

This is an amazing book. Full of first hand accounts from women telling the story of emancipation in social history. Written originally to accompany the BBC TV series of the same name it's a fascinating read.
