2.5 stars - Spoilers

Meh. I kind of enjoyed Last Blood, but that might have been down to me getting to finish off a series rather than the actual book itself. Everything was just so predictable and cheesy — nothing exciting or surprising happened.

-Chrysabelle was a boring cow. I used to like her but she turned into a full blown, run of the mill, dull Mary Sue. She didn't say or do anything remotely interesting.

-I quite liked Mal when he was being all evul and thinking nasty thoughts. Sadly, when

Kristen Painter's Last Blood, the conclusion to the "House of Comarré" series left me feeling a little uncertain... Not because it was a bad book or because anything was left wide-open but because everything just felt too... easy. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed this book and Chrysabelle and Mal still had to face a lot of obstacles, but I never felt worried that they wouldn't succeed. I am happy with the way Ms. Painter wrapped u

Let me start by saying that Painter is a master storyteller. She knows how to keep a reader's attention from the first sentence. It doesn't hurt that the covers for this awesome series are beautiful. I would love a poster of the covers just for the detail that went into them.... that aside, this series is very unique. Think high class blood slaves that are a sort of delicacy to their vampire cohorts. And then throw in ninja training and you'll come close to the Comarre. This series follows one m ...more

Wow! I just finished reading this and I am practically speechless! this book was so amazing it is hard to put it into words! I read it as slow as I could to savoir each word as I knew this was the last book and I didn't want it to be over but now that it is I am filled with contentment. Kristen did an amazing job at tying the series off there were no lose ends and it all ended beautifully and with a bang!

In this book we pick up where we left off with Chrysabelle and Mal at odds. Chrysabelle

I am really disappointed with this book. This series began fast past and dark, but ended slowly with rainbows and unicorns.

The first half of the book is paced so slowly it felt like a chore. The first 200 pages could have been chopped down to 50. Evil Mal was literally out of it the entire time. We never got to see his beast released, or what his curse made him capable of. The obstacle Chrysabelle had to face to turn him back was so easily overcome it was ridiculous. I really wanted to see them

I was lucky enough to receive this as an ARC as I am on the "House Of Pain" Street Team.

Let me start by saying this was my series find of last year. I haven't been along for the ride since the beginning but after seeing the beautiful covers I just had to start reading them and I devoured the first 3 straight through and then had to pace around for months waiting for the 4th one to be released.

Last Blood is the 5th and final installment in this particular series and what a story it is. I was a li

This is the last book of an amazing series that I discovered earlier this year, and the best part is that all the books are now out, so none of that frustrating waiting period between books. I have read many series where the last book leaves you a bit or completely unsatisfied. This series is NOT one of those. You finish this book and think, wow! You will not regret investing time and money into this world, where the author places vampires in sunny future Florida (love the irony here, as these v ...more

Oh how I'm going to miss this series and these characters. This book really tied up things well. There's a lot going on; so many things that needed handling and it was done nicely. I love Chrys and Mal; and Doc and Fi; and Creek and Dominic...shit I loved all of them.
Talk about getting your HEA...I couldn't have asked for better.
Justice was done well for everyone and I mean everyone.
Mal and Chrys have things to settle with Tatiana, Doc and Fi have to find a traitor, Creek wants to be free; Domi

Last Blood was fan-frakkin-tastic and in my opinion the perfect finale to Kristen Painter's House of Comarré series. It truly was everything I needed it to be and then some. After everything that Chrysabelle and Mal have been through, they more than deserved their happily ever after. Full review to come.

The feel of the series as it progressed as gone from riveting, with the first books, to something that resembles a family drama with the last books of the series. I don’t honestly know how I feel now that I have finished Last Blood by Kristen Painter, depressed is a good word. That’s it, I am depressed as I adore this series, and I hate to see it come to an end. “Pouting like Lilith.” For those of you who haven’t read the serie

Quick & Dirty: This is the last book in the House of Comarre series. Chrysabelle will face her enemies for the last time. The question is whether she will come out the winner against them or lose all that she holds dear.

Opening Sentence: Twenty-four hours.

The Review:

For those of you who have read this series and enjoyed it, I am sad to say this is the last book in the series. Now after saying that, I have to say that I believe Kristen Painter has out done

A solid end to this great series. I rated this an overall 4 out of 5 stars because some things, for this reader, were too quick, without any drama surrounding them. I was surprised by one thing that happened with the baby vamp -- so didn't see it coming.

I wonder if there will be some type of spin off to this series. There is no telling what this great author could dream up for Mal and Chrysabelle's offspring. Here's hoping...

5+ stars! The amazing conclusion to the House of Commare series. And it was truly amazing! Very well written. A lot packed into this book. Whole lotta stuff going on! Lots of action. Very intense! Loved it, and this entire series. A definite must read.

I enjoyed this series but felt it was dragged out with a lot going on with secondary characters and the main story line taking a long time to move along. With the result that I found myself skimming though this one at times just to get to the point where I could see the end outcome.

What a fabulous ending to the series. I really got immersed in the story. Definitely would recommend to anyone who likes to read well written paranormal fiction.

Fifth and last of the House of Comarré urban fantasy series revolving around Chrysabelle and Mal and set in the fictional Paradise City in an alternate world New Florida in 2067.

My Take
I have loved this series and have devoured each installment as it came out. I expected Last Blood to continue the excitement and was devastated when I got a bit of a ways into this. It was terrible.

Painter had characters acting out of character, going so far over the top that it was unbelievable, and being so gul

This whole series was quite lackluster for me. I kept reading because I wanted to know what happens, but time and time again the potential fell flat. I gave this last book 2 stars because the author did well to build intensity which really sucked me in, but everything turned out so easy? There were no epic battles, no real sense of danger, so much potential wasted. I found the characters and their dynamics extremely annoying throughout all five books, barely anyone with an ounce of common sense ...more

I couldn't decide between 2 or 3 stars. I was eager to see what would happen but it feel so rushed at the end. I mean, we are already on book 5 but everyone was still running around crazy till just about the end. Maybe I just like things finished a bit earlier so I can enjoy the ending a bit.

The series as a whole: there was WAY too much coincidence for me. (view spoiler)

This series has been an interesting one, but it wasn't without its challenges for me when it came to reading each book. But still I was quite happy with it by the end! Kristen Painter's Last Blood is the finale to the House of Comarre series and not everyone gets their happy ending as the cover description will tell you. Some futures are left a little uncertain as well.

There have been a plethora of characters in this series and with them, their own story and plot. So at times the books can get a

If you have NOT read the first four books in the House of Comarré series, please read with caution. There are some spoilers that were unavoidable. Proceed with caution . . .

I love Chrysabelle and Mal. This is no secret. With the ending of the fourth book, I was heartbroken, as most other fans were. I went into this book with so much hope but not just for these two; Kristen Painter has made me fall in love with all of her characters and I was so hoping

*My Thoughts*

If you somehow managed not to lose your sanity after reading the cliffhanger ending to Out for Blood, then you can definitely manage to read Last Blood without tearing out every single follicle of what remains of your hair.

The House of Comarré series comes to a satisfying ending with Chrysabelle and Malkolm starting off on different sides of the spectrum thanks to a raptor fae removing Mal's emotional attachment to Chrysabelle and Chrysabelle doing

This is the fifth, and final, novel in the House of Comarre series. First and foremost these books have beautiful covers. This book however, seemed mostly there to wrap up loose ends and end the series. I just didn’t find it as engaging or interesting as previous books.

There are spoilers ahead from the previous books so that’s a warning for if you haven’t read those yet.

Chrysabelle is still reeling from Mal losing his feelings of love for her in the last book and from finding out that she is car

It is bittersweet to see this series come to an end.  It seems as if it was yesterday that I attended NY Comic Con and listened to a panel where Kristen Painter talked about her experience with her first book and how she came up with her world.  I hadn't really heard of her but I fell in love with the cover and quite frankly I loved her personality.  And that's why I read it.

The House of Comarre is so unique and truly has it all.  Action, intrigue and romance.  We've been on this ride with Chry

I was really looking forward to this book, Out for Blood was the best in the series to date, so I expected continuation in Last Blood. Alas, I was a little disappointed. The book was fine, the writing still very good. But it seemed the the writer got bored. The passage in OfB, with Crystabelle by the pool after she thought Mal was dead was excellent, so I thought we'd be treated to a similar level of emotion and depth when Crys came back home after the altercation with the Rapter Fae. But the sc ...more
