I appreciate that (very) early days on the CO Continental Divide Trail were documented in M. John Fayhee's journey in '96 from New Mexico to Wyoming. Having photography from one individual and narrative from another - not on the same journey at the same time - creates a disconnect between the visuals and the content that could've been bridged to document the same trail. Fayhee's writing style is far too verbose and his overwhelming negativity throughout dominate the text. I find that unfortunate given the subject matter and it unnecessarily detracts from the beautiful visuals, views, landscapes, etc.

Lack of creativity while stating the obvious on photo captions. I never would of figured out a snow scene was winter, a pond was a pond, or that a waterfall was waterfall. When not rolling our eyes me and my daughter had a few chuckles every time we found those types of captions and she said "well duh."
