If you want additional anectdotal information of plants and wildflowers this book is a great help. It assumes the reader has a knowledge of the subject as it is not illustrated.

I love this guide. It has so much interesting information on so many common "weeds". You have to basically know what you are dealing with. If you need to ID I'd far rather use Peterson's: A Field Guide to Wildflowers Northeastern and North-Central North America (Peterson Field Guides) by Roger Tory Peterson or Newcomb's: Newcomb's Wildflower Guide An Ingenious New Key System for Quick, Positive Field Identification of the Wildflowers, Flowering Shrubs and Vines of N by Lawrence Newcomb. But this one is such fun, and I learned so much. Plus it's small and easy to carry with you, unlike others ( Hedgemaids & Fairy Candles The Lives and Lore of North American Wildflowers by Jack Sanders comes to mind--huge)
