A Boy Arrives

Rate this book
For Grimwood Streep, life at Dunnydark Hall has lost some of its sparkle. The cook produces nothing but mulligatawny soup for breakfast, lunch and tea. His butler needs dusting, and he hasn’t had a visitor since 1977. But things are about to change. One sunny morning, a boy arrives, and life will never be the same again. A Boy Arrives is a gentle, funny and touching story to delight children and adults alike. Longlisted for The Times/Chicken House Best Children’s Book.

In this novel, I really enjoyed the characters, and how each character was affected by other characters. In addition to this, I loved the way that every few chapters the point of view of the narration would change, giving the reader an interesting insight as to why this or that was happening, and what was happening in different places.

A Boy Arrives, who would think such an entertaining adventure could follow such a simple occurrence!
A Boy Arrives is a joy to read, it is humorous, touching & brilliant fun. I'm certain there is many an adult that will enjoy reading this book as much as the kids do as it is so well written & captivating, it reaches out to that innocent & mischievous child that still lurks in us all.
