Rate this book
In this action-packed series, Carter Lewis and Isabelle Hunter help their computer-crazy uncle who has created a totally new kind of book experience. You don't read Uncle Dan's version of classic books; you live them in a virtual reality simulation. When Uncle Dan realizes someone has hacked his system and is corrupting his books, Carter and Isabelle must work together to help him uncover and beat the hacker.

In Book 1, Carter Lewis is thrilled when he gets a coded message from his computer-programming uncle offering him the coolest job in the world -- helping test a new virtual reality program. Carter will even put up with Uncle Dan's other new helper, Carter's brainiac cousin Isabelle. Everything is fantastic until Uncle Dan discovers someone has tampered with the code in The Three Musketeers . The hacker has left clues to his identity, so Uncle Dan sends the kids in to check each book for the hacker's tampering. Their mission is to pass the clues found in Alice In Wonderland on to him while he goes underground to track this guy down.

Book for young middle grade audiences. This chapter book has a lot of references to Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and is more fun if you are familiar with Lewis Carroll's books. The premise of the story is that two kids are involved with their uncle testing his new invention, a way to experience books in full on Virtual Reality. This new technology has been hacked and the hacker has rewritten some of the code, so that when the kids are testing the program, there are things in the stories that are wrong. Knowing what the original source material is and what has been changed makes the book more of a fun read.
