Eh. This could have been a much more fun book - it's the parade after all! - but it was very very dry. Each chapter covers a decade of the parade, starting with the inaugural run 1924 and covering the next 80 years (this book was published in 2004), and has a few pages of description covering 10 years followed by pictures.

The writing was oh-so dry. I hoped for little stories and blurbs about entertaining/interesting/funny parade occurrences, but it was very technical. For example, "On November 2

The pictures were excellent, but the text was quite dry. The text mostly consisted of a rundown of balloons and performers for each year. It would have been nice to learn more about the people who put it on, problems & successes, interesting stories. There was some of that, of course, but not enough to really hold my attention page after page.

Cools pictures. I read this for a project for a class. It feels pretty repetitive (that is the nature of this type of book though). It is good to flip through if you are interested in the parade through the years.

This is a cool book. Really gets you in the mood for the parade. Lots of wonderful photos and background info.

I loved how it focused on the older floats! Also, I thought it was very nice how the book was dedicated to all the Macy's employees who missed Thanksgiving to help make the parade a success.
