She always knew Fate was cruel...

The last person Olivia Hollingsworth expected to see at her Greenwich Village vampire club was her one true love, Doug Paxton—whom she believed to be dead for centuries. Olivia thought she had moved on, but when Doug reappears, her heart knows she'd rather die than lose him again.

But this is beyond the pale...

I went to the Barbara Vey Readers Appreciation Luncheon today, and got to sit with Sara Humphreys and received this book. I came home and I started reading it and four hours later I finished it. I couldn't put it down.
The writing was amazing and the story sucks you in. Olivia is a kick butt girl with a soft side, but not in the way that you get annoyed with it, it fits her personality and how she responds to the people around her. Doug is that macho guy we all want that isn't all about showin

Write a review? Oh my gosh, I'm just trying to get my head together and think of words at the moment! Hmmm....ok, here goes.

I'm blown away by the feelings this book has given me. By that, I mean, heart pounding, adrenaline, smiles, tears! This continuation-spin off from the Amoveo Series is amazing! I love Sara's writing anyhow, but the way the new characters are introduced and the lives they lead, just throws you right in the middle and makes you want More!

In my opinion, y'all should read the

Alright, alright! True confessions and all that, I chose this book based on the title for the most part with a smidge of wanting to try the author after hearing good things and another smidge that thought the blurb sounded good too. I knew about Sara Humphreys' Amoveo series and it has a good rep, but I was behind so thought I'd start this new series instead. Much to my chagrin, I discovered that this is a spin-off to that series so the worldbuilding and some characters were crossovers. It was n ...more

First impressions are often times deceiving and that couldn’t be truer than with Sara Humphreys latest book. At first glance, Tall, Dark and Vampire appears to be just another “vamp story” but beneath its pretty cover lives a well developed story peppered with rich lore and a timeless romance.

For me it was Humphreys mythology that propelled this novel from being just an average, everyday read to something truly special. Anyone who’s read a decent amount of paranormal fict

Dead in the City #1

If you’ve read Undone (Amoveo Legend Series, Book 4) then you’ll know some of the characters in this book, if you haven’t then the characters may not mean as much to you (at least to begin with) but you’ll still enjoy the read.

I wasn’t sure what to expect from this new series but I was completely drawn in within the first couple of chapters. I read a lot of vampire books, but this one definitely stuck out from the rest and was unique and

Ms. Humphreys did it again to me! I never thought that I would get hooked to vampire stories, well it's done!
I read all of this author's books in her Amoveo shape shifters series and loved them so much; that I decided to read her new vampire series. OMG, I was so surprised and once I started to read it, I could not put it away. I was blown away! I loved her characters, Olivia Hollingsworth and Doug Paxton. I Love Ms. Humphre

I wasn’t quite sure what to expect with this book, I’ve read Sara Humphreys before and enjoyed it but this is a new series. I have to say I enjoyed this book immensely. It was funny and action packed, one of my favorite combinations. Olivia was a great combination of compassionate and kick ass. She loves her “family” and would do anything to protect it, but she is not one to take shit. She is a protector by nature and will protect them to the death if she h

It can't be easy for an author to find an innovative twist on a long standing genre, but Sara Humphreys has scored a hit!
Tall, Dark and Vampire is a story filled with action, passion and dark suspense, that’s sure to get your heart pumping from the very first chapter. Add to the mix some mystery, fidelity that has spanned centuries and a perilous menace bent on revenge, and you have a tale that will lure you in and hold you captive until the very last page.

Whooo Weeeee.. Sara Humphreys is at it again!! Tall, Dark and Vampire is the first book in her Dead in the City Series and with it she shows us that she is not a one hit wonder. While I will always adore those Amoveo's I am falling quite willingly for Sara's Vamps.. And for those of you who know me, you will be quite surprised.

Tall, Dark and Vampire is a Vampire story.. not creatures based on mythology, not Atlanteans not based on a war between good vamps and bad, not Vamps that ascend to other

You had my heart before I was even born.

Olivia has been a vampire for 300 years, and lost the love of her life the night she was changed to a vampire.

Ever since Doug can remember, he was been dreaming of a red-haired siren, never expecting her to be real.

"I feel like I've been looking for you forever - my whole life," he murmured. "Every time you get closer, but no matter how much I get, it isn't enough. I want more. I want it all."

When Doug goes to investigate a murder at Olivia’s night

Tall, Dark, and Vampire is the first book in the Dead in the City series by Sara Humphreys and is scheduled for release on August 6 2013. Olivia Hollingsworth is a vampire, one that has remained faithful to her long dead true love, who died on the night she was turned. Unexplained dreams have kept him close to her heart, and when Doug Paxton walks into her club in order to investigate a murder, his resemblance to her past love is irrefutable. Oh man I got to put in to words a review!! First let me say this is a spin off from the Amoveo shape shifters series. I loved that this is Olivia's story as she was a character from the last Amoveo book that I also found I loved. She was one of those friends that who had your back no matter what. My kind of girl and kinda reminds me of me(the friendship part of course). Of course that is also what makes Sara's books so awesome is you don't just meet and love the main characters of her books. - Twelve percent in and already I love the loose ties this story has with her Amoveo series. Not enough to be considered a spin off unless of course she is thinking on more books to follow this one.

Just reached the part where the hero was introduced. Humphreys did a great job of introducing the heroine, giving insight about her character without doing an info dump.

I had only read Ms. Humphreys' first Amoveo book before I read this new release. I have to say she has now hooked me. I am traditionally a Regency historical romance reader, so I approached her books with some trepidation. I will be the first to admit, I loved it. More than I was Expecting

Three hundred years ago, Olivia Hollingsworth watched a monster slaughter the only man she ever loved, then was forced to become a monster herself. She's never quite gotten over it.

Sure, being a vampire has its perks, but mostly Olivia just tries to keep her coven, those vampires she's turned and the humans she's saved, safe and gainfully employed at her night club. In all that time, through every thing she's seen and done, with every soul she's saved...on

TALL, DARK and VAMPIRE is the first installment in Sara Humphreys new Dead in the City series focusing on the vampires of New York City. Although the series is not necessarily a spinoff from Sara’s Amoveo Legend series about shapeshifters, Tall, Dark and Vampire does have a couple of characters who cross over that give the story a more familiar edge.

Olivia Hollingsworth is a three hundred year old vampire who lost her life and her love the night she was made. Twenty years ago she began

Tall, Dark, and Vampire has a storyline so well written you will just breathe in every word as you anxiously turn the pages waiting to see where it will take you next.

Olivia Hollingsworth loved her life and her fiancé with all her heart and soul. Neither she or her fiancé Douglas Threadgood had any idea the night they snuck off into the wood their lives would be changed forever. In one instant violent moment the man she swore to love for all eternity was dead and she should have been

Olivia Hollingsworth is a 300-year-old vampire. She had spent her 1st 100 years with her maker and another 100 years serving as a sentry for the Presidium/Vampire Council. Now she proudly runs "The Coven," a very popular night club in Greenwich Village with her own coven of vamps and humans. On this particular night, she feels a heightened sense of impending doom...

When Olivia finds two detectives at her club's entrance, she is shocked to discover that one of the detectives, Doug Paxton, is the

Wow this was good. A little predictable on who the bad guys are and the good guys' reward. That aside...

This is an extremely well written book. It kept me at the edge of my seat and I was at a point literally biting my nails - and I'm not a nail biter. The UST (Unresolved sexual tension) was through the roof and when they hooked up, a little on the disappointing side. I feel like the smut was a little glossed over. But it fits the mood of the book, so I'm not going to complain about that.

So, first thing I have to say is that this book wasn't bad, but it wasn't OMG yell from the roof tops good either. For me Tall Dark and Vampire was you typical vampire romance and a bit cheesy. The book is about Oliva, a 300 year old vampire so in love with, or maybe guilt ridden, with her deceased fiance that she has been celibate since the day she turned. Then she starts dreaming about her fiance, such vivid dreams, but vampires don't dream, so she writes them off and tries to ignore them. Whe ...more

Sara Humphreys’ writing just gets better and better. Her Amoveo series is great but Tall Dark and Vampire (Dead in the city) is her best so far. This is great classic paranormal romance. The story is about Olivia Hollingsworth and her long lost, as in dead, former lover Doug Paxton. Olivia is a strong independent vampire who runs her own nightclub with the help of her vampire coven. She is 3 centuries old and has a history in vampire law enforcement. She is tough but full of empathy for any crea ...more

I gotta say I really liked this book. The world-building was excellent, the characters were a great mix of funny and awesome and the writing was very well-done. It kept my attention through out the entire story. A few times I felt as if things/characters/scenes might be getting a little repetitive (like Olivia mentioning that she's never gotten over her last love), but then BAM! the author would throw in a great plot-twist.

Yes, this is a vampire book, but let's face it - I like vampire books! A

Tall, Dark and Vampire by Sara Humphreys (Dead in the City, book 1)

This book was given to me by the author for an honest review.

Olivia Hollingsworth, club owner and vampire and Doug Paxton, NYC detective and human, feel the sparks when Doug goes to Olivia's club to investigate a murder. Olivia thought she was fated to be alone, but it doesn't take Olivia long to figure out who and what Doug is to her. Seems fate has other plans for a second chance at love.

Doug doesn't have the memories that Oliv

Olivia Hollingsworth is not your normal owner of a popular nightclub. She is a 300 year old celibate vampire. Her club is staffed with not only vampires from her coven but with a few trusted humans. When a man is found dead and everything seems to point to her club she comes in contact with the reincarnation of her dead lover. And there is a high possibility he is also her bloodmate…

I am really undecided about this book. I liked the plot; it was decent if not for a bit predictable. The character
