88,000 words... and some struggle to learn
The book presents itself well - how children learn, how to teach them, the role instructional context has...
I loved the vocabulary section connecting shared book reading and addressing the need for explicitness
This text is well researched- the powerhouses are all represented
I connected most to Dr. Neumans work with captioned television- it’s a resource not only for dll students but emergent readers as well

Read for a graduate course. Good overall text. Geared toward primary education, so it wasn't as helpful as I'd hoped.
