How to Interview Like A Pro is a book filled with extensive experience, knowledge and all around expertise written by Mary Greenwood, JD, LL.M. to assist its readers on the interviewing process through 43 rules/tips for getting your next job. I really appreciated the easy reading of this book. It is a how interview encyclopedia. Greenwood's insightful rules provide personal work and interview experience as well as her extensive educational background. Greenwood says that "Getting a job is like parking. You have to be in the right place at the right time." with that being said her rules are a "how to" that ensures you land the job not just by luck of the draw, but through diligent preparation, research and practice, but she doesn't just stop at that, which is what makes this book even more of a must read, she informs her readers from how to get started, how to prepare, the interview, the wait, and landing the job. She provides not just experience and expertise, but factual knowledge about Federal Laws against Discrimination, which is really helpful for the reader to know their rights. I found this book especially insightful because I am in the job search market, I am one in a million+ people who are out there every day looking to become gainfully employed again and now that I've read her 43 rules (which I should mention, I read in a day, a book that I could not put down), I feel that I'm better prepared, I was able to acknowledge where I need to improve to be better prepared. In addition to all of the helpful rules, tips and facts, Greenwood also provide an spectacular Appendix filled with even more helpful information, from the Do's & Don't of Interviewing, Glossary of Terms, the Federal Laws Prohibiting Discrimination and even State Fair Employment Agencies. I'll admit that I've used the Glossary of Terms as a reference several times throughout the book to confirm or familiarize myself. Lastly, I loved that this appealed to every audience and provided powerful knowledge and insight for both local and non-local interviewing and job search. All in all, Mary Greenwood's: how to Interview Like A Pro, was a phenomenal and informational read that has changed my view about interviewing and how I interview. I'm walking away from this experience with more knowledge than anticipated.

I used to be a technical recruiter and with that, comes mountains of resumes and applications. In the past, I have told numerous stories about what I’ve seen walk into my office over the years and have used this as a learning tool to show my own children what NOT to do.
The laundry list of items I have come across are everything from; How long is this interview going to take? Can my baby stay in the waiting room while I interview? When would I get my first paycheck? FYI – all of which are incorrect when interviewing for a job.
The job market is really tough right now and you have to be on your game. “How to Interview Like a Pro”, from author Mary Greenwood outlines everything you need to know to secure that interview and make yourself stand out from the crowd. She outlines things you need to do while you are looking for a job, what to do once you secure an interview and how to prepare for your actual interview.
Her techniques are simple to understand and to put it bluntly, are just common sense – something that I’ve found over the years is sorely lacking in some individuals. She takes the common sense steps and wraps them up into a very detailed blueprints for helping you find and interview for your next job.
I highly recommend this book for any job hunter!

I had checked out a number of interview books to prepare for a job interview and found this one the most helpful BY FAR of what I had borrowed from the library. It did a good job of making me think about various questions I might be asked and allowed me to think of answers ahead of time. I read it cover to cover and found it was a good way to prep me and get me in the mindset to interview. Many of the questions I wrote down and made notes for answers did come up in my interview. I think this would be helpful for any job candidate whether you already have gotten an interview or just applying for jobs. I'd recommend it to my friends and family as the most helpful book I read before my interview (which incidentally I did get offered the job!).

Are you looking for a job? Are you afraid of those big interviews? Well I recently had the opportunity to read this book called “How to Interview Like A Pro” written by Mary Greenwood. This is a great book for people who have a few questions about interview etiquette or what happens during an interview. This book gives you 43 steps/rules that you should try to follow that could help you ace that interview and get that job you always wanted. Greenwood gives you advice that ranges from detailed and practical to a couple of funny advice.
Chapter 4: How to Answer Interview Questions
Rule 26. Rehearse answers in advance.
This had to be one of my most favorite chapters because she gives you the most commonly used questions from interviews and gives you guidelines on how to answer the questions along with explaining what these questions mean. She also prepares you for questions such as “Why were you fired?” It’s a very hard question to answer especially for people who when they were fired they didn’t leave the job on a good note. She helps you word the answers that you already have into better sounding statements.
This book can help even if you’re looking for a first job, like me, and you wondering what interviews will be like. If you want to be prepared from all angles I recommend this book.

Great book by JD Greenwood, employment and labor law attorney, as well as HR Director, on tips for a job search. Recommend for anyone looking for a mob or those conducting interview.
