This book contains a good brief history of the events incident to the beginning of the Mexican Revolution in 1910 which resulted in the exodus of the Mormon colonists from northern Mexico in July, 1912. The conflict between the Federalists (under Diaz, then Madero) and the Revolutionaries gave rise to lawlessness among many of the Mexican people in the states of Chihuahua and Sonora. My main reason for reading this is because of my grandfather who was born in one of these colonies. He's the little boy in the hat on the front of this book and I've thought about his mother (she's wearing the plaid shirt) and wondered how she dealt with that incredibly difficult time.
