This book contains over 600 recipes from Baghdad during its Golden Age in the ninth & tenth centuries. It provides insight into certain levels of society, not only through food, but poetry, conversation, and health advice. The translator provides an invaluable introduction into the history of medieval Arabic language cookbooks and an extensive glossary on cuisine related Arabic words.
