In defiance of expectations, Cafe Kichijoji is incredible funny. The humor is reminiscent of slice of life (ala Poor Poor Lip) stories with Hayashiya Shizuru-type puns and bad cultural references. Since I don't have access to v.1 I didn't get the best introduction to the characters, but for the most part they're prototypical: one is a bijin with mystical powers, another is pathetically poor (easiest for me to relate to), the shachou is older and constant stress is causing him to grey before his ...more

2nd of three volumes this manga deals with the everyday life of 5 very different young men who work in the same café.

It's utterly pointless, episodic with no backstory or depth to the characters. We have 4 stories each a comic sketch with no real point, and don't really expand upon the relationships between the characters either. In between are random chibi bonus stories of a couple of pages each that have nothing to do with anything, except featuring the main cast in chibi form.

Very cute. Liked the Questionable Human Being character, who is in the style of Shigure from Fruits Basket -- dark-haired, goofy, demonic. I may pick up more of these, but then again it may be more of a read online/in the bookshop sort of manga.

Except for the cute art this series has nothing going for it. I can't tell if the author wrote a rambling mess of a plot or if it was translated really poorly. Maybe a bit of both? Either way, I don't have high hopes for the final volume.

Reading a manga with an all boys cast that's not yaoi is gr8. Minigawa the "Questionable Human Bring" is my favorite character
