I am not very much interested in dissident stuff and scrawls berating Soviet Russia. The reason I started reading this book was to take just another dip into the atmosphere of prison life. I read this book years ago. So I don't remember it very well. Also at the time my Russian was not as good. Guberman writes with humour and self irony about his imprisonment. At the very ending of the book I understood that I misunderstood the entire book. Maybe if I would read it again, with the correct understanding I would rate it 4 stars.

Igor Mironovich Guberman is a Russian writer and poet of Jewish ancestry; since 1988 lives in Israel. His poetry has received a great deal of acclaim primarily because of his signature aphoristic and satiric quatrains that he called "gariki" in Russian (singular: "garik," which is also the diminutive form of the author's first name, Igor). (Gariki). These short poems (originally Guberman called th ...more
