Applies a variety of theoretical approaches from the Neoplatonic to the Structuralist and Post-Structuralist to produce a useful if occasionally plodding introduction to the sonnet.

This is an excellent resource which is thorough and far-reaching. It is pretty accessible too, and would be a great introduction to the origins of the sonnet for those with rudimentary knowledge.

Great information about not just the STRUCTURE of the sonnet, but the theories behind it. Withheld a star because of the small amount of info about Milton.

Incredibly useful reference, and fascinating in-depth discussion of the evolution of the sonnet. I'd love to read the whole thing cover-to-cover some day.
