“She wants to be loved by you…alone!”

Daryl Beasley collects all things Maxine Marie, whose famous curves and fast lifestyle made her a Hollywood icon for decades after her tragic death. Daryl’s girlfriend, Loretta Stevens, knew about his geeky lifestyle when they started dating, but she loves him, quirks and all.

Then one day Daryl chooses to buy a particularly tacky piece

Daryl has an obsession with long dead film star Marilyn Monroe (called Maxine Marie in this here fable). He’s a total geek but is fortunate to have Loretta, his real-life, flesh and blood girlfriend, who loves him and tolerates his fixation on Maxine. But when he decides to buy a spendy piece of Maxine memorabilia rather than buy her a birthday present, she stomps off in a huff. Well, wouldn’t you?

So Daryl heads home with his new present to himself and puts on a Maxine film to while a

Paranormal romance really isn't my thing. So for what it was, a perfectly adequate read, nothing special. A man obsessed with a dead Marilyn Monroesque (very much so) celebrity manages to bring her back to life when he acquires a unique piece of memorabilia. His girlfriend and a paranormal leather trench coat wearing (yes, seriously) female kickass special agent must save the day. Apparently, the paranormal investigator is a recurring character for the author. Predictable, decently written, chee ...more

R.J. Sullivan's story will haunt you long after you finish reading it!

Ah, the tried and true ghost story. Some malevolent spirit decides to vent its rage and despair on some hapless nobodies who must then battle this other-worldly force to save their own lives and those of the ones they love. It’s been done time and time again—in film, in television, in books. And if R. J. Sullivan’s Haunting Obsession was just more of the same old tropes, I don’t think it would have really caught my interest. But Sullivan has taken old trope and put a new spin on it, which makes ...more

Equal parts creepy and amusing, Haunting Obsession is actually the second Rebecca Burton novella from R.J. Sullivan, although you don't need to read the first (Backstage Pass) to enjoy this.

Daryl Beasley is a man fortunate enough to find his heart's desire twice in one day, but foolish enough to risk them both. While out shopping for his girlfriend's birthday present, he spots a framed photo of Maxine Marie (a Marilyn Monroe clone) that comes with the first cheque she ever signed under that name

I received a free copy of this book for review.

Wow, this book is definitely creepy-licious! Daryl is you're typical computer geek who just happens to be obsessed with Maxine Marie, who is obviously based on Marilyn Monroe. Daryl soon finds himself in trouble with his long time girlfriend Loretta after he buys a piece of Maxine Marie memorabilia instead of her birthday present. Soon after the purchase, and subsequent fight with Loretta, Daryl is confronted with the ghost of Maxine Marie who seems

A short story about a guy called Daryl who has no clue how good he has it with his girlfriend. He does something so stupid she'd have been smart to smack him upside the head and then walk away never to look back. A different story that would have been for sure.

Rj spins quite the tale about Daryl's obsession with a long dead star when she begins to haunts him it's quite the oops I shouldn't have done that except for the sexy time Daryl has with her. Oh my!

My favorite part of the story was when R

--Review courtesy from Book & Movie Dimension a Blog--

We all know many of our friends or people that are collectors of Scifi and or memorabilia of certain actors. Daryl Beasley is a guy who has a deep love for a blonde bomshell named Maxine Marie who's our society's equal to Marilyn Monroe. Daryl's girlfriend, Loretta Stevens, tolerates his obsession but lately not as much when Daryl decides to take it up a notch in purchasing a new collector's item that he finds is haunted by his very objec

What a silly and fun read!
This is a ghost story about a nerdy computer guy with an obsession over all things Maxine Marie. He purchases a collectable item which brings along more than he bargained for, the ghost of the 50s pin-up girl he idolizes. Maxine is obviously a stand in for Marilyn Monroe and is a sex symbol who died from a drug overdose fifty years before. She died young, so her ghost is still a bit immature

This book doesn't go too far in depth or description, it goes quickly and doesn

This is a Love Story and a Ghost story. Two kinds of stories I enjoy so bonus that it was both. RJ Sullivan is a master of dialogue. It is one thing I look for and enjoy in a book so I love when dialogue is wonderful. It flowed well it felt like I was listening in on a conversation. It was a short novella but the author took the time to development the characters in a way that there was understanding of them and their personalities. I think I liked the characters because they were so much more r ...more

My review:

Haunting Obsession is a ghostly horror novella written by RJ Sullivan. It is well written, spooky and thought awakening.

Daryl is obsessed by Maxine Marie - an actress from 50s and 60s who is clearly based on Marilyn Monroe. When Daryl buys a memorabilia of Maxine Marie, an item which Maxine Marine owned prior to getting famous, weird things start to happen. Maxine enters Daryl's world in a way which gives a word ghostly a totally other level. Agent Rebecca Burton is brought in to dea

Haunting Obsession is a sexy, suspenseful, and yes, scary read. RJ Sullivan takes the haunted object trope and turns it on its head. Obsessed fan Darryl finds his wildest dreams come true and turn solid as his favorite screen actress appears from the dead to haunt him. And he very much enjoys this haunting... at first.

I won't spoil this for you, but this is a must read book full of believable characters, tense storytelling and supernatural horror. Pick it up, and you too may discover a haunting

This book was very interesting. Crazy and weird at times but it kept my attention and hard to put down at times. It also shows what happens when your obsession takes over your real life and the problems it could cause- to the extreme, and with ghosts.

Very good novella, which is both a love story and a ghost story, all in one. Plus, it plays with our fantasies and what we would do if they came to life. Would it be wonderful, or would it turn horrifying all too quickly?

A+ effort and I thoroughly enjoyed the read.

#1 issue-Creepy ghost sex that was anything but sexy. I cringed at the thought and then it got evil-ish.
#2 issue- The female MC was a bit of a spoiled princess brat.
#3 silly story
Not cozy, not scary, not fun, and not interesting.

Thanks to RJ Sullivan for sending me Haunting Obsession! This book is full of love & understanding for the geeky collector ; admittedly I count myself in these ranks. ;))
Yes, the struggle is real when needing a present for a friend but finding that treasure we never knew existed! Thankfully I never bought a cursed item ( as far as I know) but poor Daryl really received more than he asked for with his Maxine collection! Maxine wants to be loved. That should not be too much to ask, loved for who she is, not because she is a Hollywood sex symbol even if that symbol is from the distance past. RJ takes readers on a wild ride through a fans obsession. Where the icon takes her biggest fan for a ride he will never forget.

Daryl, loves Maxine even if he is young enough to be a grandchild of Maxine's. However, his obsession has gone a little too far. When Daryl buys a piece of paper with Maxine's signature, he gets more

The title peaked my interest first, the synopsis grabbed my attention even more, but when I saw the cover it was the deal maker for me I wanted to read this book. I won't lie, I was kind of on the fence not knowing what to expect, but, I do try hard not to judge a book by it's cover haha (get it) yes I know my small attempt at book humor :)

We all know society is still enamored with Marilyn Monroe, even though it's been so many years since her untimely death. I know a lot of girls who still idolize her, and geez how many tattoos people have of her that I have seen. I myself am not nearly as untraced with her as a lot of people, but I can respect who she was to history. So I was a bit intrigued in this story, wanting to see if it was going to be enjoyable or

What if ideas and dreams and obsessions had paranormal power? What if the depth of someone's feeling might determine the strength of a ghost's ability to interact with the world? And what if someone were truly obsessed--how soon might they become possessed?

R. J. Sullivan's Haunting Obsession is a truly haunting tale with a ghostly terror reminiscent of Marilyn Munroe--who else would command such obsessive love? She wants to be loved. She only wants to be loved. But, after so long dead, she wants

This was quite an amusing story of a celebrity obsession going way too far.

The main character, Daryl Beasley is huge fan of classic movie starlet Maxine Marie. So much so that instead of buying his current girlfiend Loretta a birthday present he buys yet another piece of Maxine Marie memorabilia

Daryl soon finds out that this new object is actually haunted by Maxine's ghost and at first he thinks he's hit the lottery. The girl of his dreams who's been his obsession for years has just become real

The story was just too absurd and there was barely even a plot to the whole thing. The erotica in the book was overwhelming. I don’t mind some nice sex scenes but at least try and make them good.

Note: I won this book from Bootheel Cotton Patch.

This is mistakenly marked as romantic fiction but it is actually erotica. For that reason, I didn't care for it much. Fans of erotica might like it better.
