Contained within these pages are tools for you to use to "enter His gates". The explanations of various items traditionally found in Jewish homes are for you to use and enjoy. Recently, many Christians from various denominations have expressed interest in understanding these items. Therefore this book came into being. You, too, as a Christian, are invited to incorporate these items into your homes.Since all of these items existed also in Jesus day and were part of his daily and holiday celebration, they can only help you deepen your spiritual walk.
This is a book for Christians (well, gentiles) to learn a bit about Judaism. It has many lovely color illustrations and is easy to read and understand. It covered a lot of information. For example, it told what activities and rituals are done during the various feasts, why, and often included a favorite recipe. However, it was more like a book you'd read to a child to teach them about modern Judaism rather than a research tool for Bible studies.
The book covered the Torah, Menorah, Mezuzah, Skullcap, Prayer Shawl, Shofar, Shabbat, Havdalat, The three Pilgrimage Festivals, Passover, Shavuot, Sukkot, Chanukah, Purim, Blessings, Tefilin, The Seven Species, The Breastplate, and The Jewish Calendar.
This book is more of a resource or reference to the basics of Judaism and the Jewish lifestyles centralized among the first Abrahamic Religion utilized today more so than an actual book. It is also part-cookbook providing kosher recipes for those who may want to make the foodstuffs associated for each holiday listed here. All in all this is a very simplistic book that covers a little over the basics which makes this a good book for anyone being introduced to the traditions.
I personally loved the recipes though I may never make any of them since my local grocery store has them pre-made already. I also already know most of the stuff taught in this book thanks to pastors such as Perry Stone and Bill Cloud. Nevertheless, it is a great resource on simple terms.
Meant as a brief overview rather than as a comprehensive study, Enter His Gates explains common Jewish holidays, customs, and religious/cultural items for the Gentile Christian.
