It was an interesting and fun read, with lots going on. I didn't know before after reading it that the author was born in the 18th century, and that he was a Danish historian. That did explain the story was written, but it also added a special touch to it I think :)

Bernhard Severin Ingemann var en dansk salmedigter og forfatter af historiske romaner. Ingemann var gift med malerinden Lucie Mandix, som bl.a. har malet den oprindelige altertavle i Hammer Kirke.

Ingemann arbejdede ved Sorø Akademi, hvor han var lektor i dansk sprog og litteratur. Bl.a. skrev han: Morgensalmer til Brug for Eleverne i Sorøe Academies Skole (1822) og Morgensange for Børn (1837).
