The Monster Within started out okay, but i quickly got bored.

I didn't really like Sam. All her lying done my head in!
I can understand why she would find it hard to tell someone that she's killing people, but if that someone is the one who bought her back, why didn't she say something to him? He has obviously dabbled in witchcraft, as he found someone to bring her back to life, and if she wasn't bought back to

'The Monster Within' is a uniquely imagined story about a loving gesture turned horribly wrong. Samantha Thompson - Sam - died of cancer at the age of seventeen. Four days later, she climbs out of her grave and starts a new chance at life. Her boyfriend Ethan had promised he would do whatever it took to bring her back - and it seems like it worked. Sam and Ethan move to a small cottage in the mountains to start their new life together - and things seems to be going great. Only Sam isn't telling ...more

If you enjoy a young adult twist to the classic Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde with a little witch craft thrown in, then The Monster Within is the novel you’re looking for.

The plot was refreshing compared with the usual young adult reads that have been released over the past year. The idea of unleashing the monster inside, even if it’s just yourself craving survival and life, hasn’t really been played on in a lot of the novels I’ve seen on shelves, when in fact, many of us actually do battle our inner

After cancer cuts her life short at seventeen, Samantha has been given a second chance. She climbs out of her fresh grave to find her boyfriend Ethan by her side. They escape to a remote cabin in the Poconos to start a new life. Sam is barely alive several hours before she feels like she's dying again. She sucks the life out of a stranger and feels stronger than ever. But she must continue to kill others in order to survive. It woul

If you are looking for a quick, exciting read then this is the book for you. I read the entire book in one 3 hour sitting. It's got drama, death, witches, zombies and some decent romance.

Samantha(Sam) died of cancer and her boyfriend couldn't live without her so he found a way to bring her back. YIKES! That is where everything started going down hill. Sam has to kill in order to stay alive and in my opinion she should have told Ethan the truth instead of trying to protect him. It was his fault s

After Samantha died of cancer, her boyfriend Ethan found a way to bring her back to life. He won’t tell her how he did it, but they’re covered in dirt from the gravesite and driving away from their town to start fresh somewhere else, with fakes names and the desire to look for jobs since they won’t have parents to support them. Samantha is human, but not completely. She has to do something horrible to stay alive.

Samantha has a monster inside her that forces her to kill people so she can continue

“Witches, lies, black magic, murder…and the ultimate act of selfless love. Kelly Hashway has a spellbinding hit with “The Monster Within…”

“The Monster Within” starts off with creep-tastic action when we’re thrown into Ethan and Sam’s world—in a graveyard, no less. The action only amps up as the reader moves through the story. There isn’t one scene that something isn’t happening—a death, a lie, a little black magic. It’s the darkest novel I’ve read of Kelly’s and she does dark and creepy we

I am a fan of Kelly s books and her writing and after reading The Monster Within, that is even more true now. The story flows so easily, from the very first sentence something is happening, Sam rising from the grave, and it doesnt stop through the entire book. It didnt matter if you figured out the truth somewhere in the middle, it was still interesting to see the characters reactions. My favorite characters in this book are Ethan and Dy

Ethan's love for Sam is so strong, he's willing to raise her from the dead. But when complications ensue, like Sam's survival hinging on her stealing life from others, she'll have to decide if she should or shouldn't tell Ethan her dark secret. She also needs to figure out what's wrong with her if she hopes for a normal life. Hashway does a great job creating intriguing characters, and The Monster Within will stir your emotions and have you trying to unravel the mystery within the book. ...more

I am not usually into paranormal mysteries because frankly, they scare me. However, Kelly Hashway's The Monster Within has made me rethink the whole idea of reading paranormal books. This book is not only engaging, it is a great mystery and extremely suspenseful. Even though, I put it on my list in August, I just got to read it last night--and no, I could not put it down! I highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys mysteries with a twist.

Wow! This was a great read. Kelly Hashway is definitely one of my favorite authors. I absolutely loved the premise of The Monster Within, and I totally became attached to the characters. Sam and Ethan's story is full of love, tragedy, action, and suspense. The paranormal elements were perfect, and the plot kept me on the edge of my seat, frantically trying to figure out who was good and who was evil. Looking forward to the second book in the series! ...more
The Monster Within by Kelly Hashway is an interesting read with a bit of spookiness! I am sure it will be a popular book with readers in the high school library where I work. Sam, the main character, is unsure who she can trust after her boyfriend brought her back to life. Suspense, guilt and intrigue make this a fun read.

Recommends it for: everyone
This book was so great! An original story with the twists and turns that I love in a book. I was questioning the whole time who was good and who was evil. Why this person did that and why that person did this! Every character in the book had a special part to play. It made me want to get to know each one individually!

As with any Hashway book, I LOVE IT! Her writing is sucks you in and you always love the characters! Even when bad things happen, you want to be there with those characters! I didn't guess all the twists and loved how it ended. The books are never too sugary... which is perfect in my book! ...more

WOW! From the beginning I was hooked! Sam is happy to be alive, but doesn't understand what is happening to her. She can't control the monster inside of her, and people keep dying because of her.

The end was a surprise. I didn't see it coming! Another must-read by Kelly Hashway!

I had, at some point, convinced myself dragons were a part of this book. I'm not sure why. Probably best to not question my brain. That's not why I gave up however. I quite simply did not understand one iota of anyone's motivations.

You have Ethan--who rather like James in Secret Vampire (yes by LJ Smith, yes I adore this book, no don't you judge me for my Night World obsession) could not give up his love of life, but who unlike James didn't see a need to investiga

I love the concept for The Monster Within, I was curious about what the MC would become and how it would all play out but unfortunately I was left underwhelmed and disappointed.

What would it be like to have a second chance at life?

This book commands attention from the second Sam crawls out of her grave until the exceptional ending.

To be honest, what I loved most is the devotion between the main character and her boyfriend, Ethan. He's there for her through thick and thin, good and bad. In this case, Sam's worst is definitely her worst. I don't want to give it away for those who haven't read it, but the supernatural elements and the way the love story is tied in, made t

Kelly Hashway fully admits to being one of the most accident-prone people on the planet, but that didn’t stop her from jumping out of an airplane at ten thousand feet one Halloween. Maybe it was growing up reading R.L.
