An extraordinary book about anti-fascist resistance in Portugal during Salazar’s dictatorship. I was surprised and horrified to learn the extent to which the fascist state used starvation as a weapon of class repression. The thing I hate most about fascists is that they are liars: theocracy is an aside; what matters most is always class interests.
