When the end of the world arrived, it came not with a bang, as most expected, but with more of a "pfft" instead.
Humanity has been torn asunder and brought to the edge of total annihilation in less than an hour. For those who died, it was a quick death, so fast that their brains didn't have time to process the pain signals from their nerves. For those who survived, the true horror is about to begin as they struggle to not only stay alive, but find out what happened to bring such a quick end to the world as they knew it.
Final Dawn is a thrilling new post-apocalyptic series that follows the journey of four people who survived the end of days.
Following the thrilling start of Episode 1, Episode 2 picks up right back where the action left off, continuing to follow the stories of four unlikely survivors of the end of the world - and the beginning of a new hellish existence. Facing adversity at every corner, new enemies must be met head-on and a tentative plan for survival may turn out to be a surefire recipe for disaster.
What are the chances that four accidental survivors of TEOTWAWKI also share the same DNA anomaly AND meet up in the same city? AND one of them happens to be the scientist who was working on this project? AND in this city she happens to find a small clue in a box left by a guy she happens to know? In a city she'd never been to before. That's been pulverized. Wow. The other bad plot hole is, these survivors supposedly have this DNA thing which makes them safe from the nanobot invaders. Then why oh why are the nanobots chasing them to kill them?? The glaring plot holes start after it was a pretty good book at the beginning. Too bad. It had potential now it's hard to finish.

The story line is a great one. I am just not sure about the way it is developing. To me there seems to be several plot holes (why do the silver creatures not kill one of the main characters when they easily could have?, how did several of the characters survive the apocalypse when almost everyone else in the country died? to name a few). I know the author tried to explain it for some of the characters, but that reasoning fell short for the other characters.
Overall I will still seek out the third book in the series just to see how it ends.
I have the box set and episode two continues the story of four survivors of a devastating event. Bombs have ruined the Earth, but why? Yet, there is another mystery…
A fast-paced tale that promises more. It's well-written except for some grammatical errors. Though still enjoyable.
More excitement and suspense. What are these strange creatures? Who/what caused the apocalypse? What wasn't Sam or Rachael consumed? So many questions, proceeding on the journey looking for answers.
This was a really good second part to this new & exciting, fast paced, apocalyptic series! Great action & tension, brilliant ideas, well written & gripping adventure! I can't wait to read the third part! I do strongly recommend for all that love apocalyptic stories!
Great can't wait to read more of this series Walk along and see what has happened to our world. But WHY did it happen and What is the bright light that keeps showing up! Is there a way to fix this?
This didnt really go the way I was expecting it to. Add to that the story was less and less keeping my interest as the characters and writing became a little disappointing.
Well developed characters, with interesting differences. Instead of the typical post apoc personalities, these are original and exciting. Looking forward to next chapters.
Rachel has realised that it was a nuclear attack and now she has to get to Washington as she has the skills to put things right. Linking up with soldiers seems to be a good idea until she sees the swarm. Nancy finds a safe place to hole up in but it doesn't feel safe enough when she sees the swarm outside, so she is on the road again. Leonard starts to locate supplies for his journey to South Carolina and leaves the power station. Marcus sees a humanoid version of the swarm and is scared that it is tracking him.
The swarm become a more important part of this story in part two and it certainly ramps up the tension with each of our survivors seeing them. It also becomes clear just how dangerous this thing is going to be, whether in swarm or human form. I'm somewhat intrigued by this thing and look forward to finding out what it is and how it came to be, and hopefully seeing what Rachel is going to be able to do to stop it. We have our characters in somewhat more dangerous moments which helps the reader to care more about what is happening to them.
I don't want to write too much about the actual plot and spoil it for those who want to read it but it is certainly amping things up as the story goes on. There is more tension and danger in this part and it was entertaining to read. It was this part that convinced me to go ahead and buy the omnibus edition so I could read it all in one. I'm looking forward to doing that.
I’m starting to get to know a little more about our survivors although I’m no further forward on what has happened. Rachel seems to know what’s going on but I think I liked it better when I read Leonard, Nancy and Marcus there was a bit of creepiness and the enjoyment of reading something different that I don’t have anymore.
