Meena has a secret guarded closely by her family—a secret as dangerous as the sea and buried just as deep. When court-appointed community-service workers are assigned to Flukes, the family-owned animal sanctuary, everyone is on high alert. It doesn’t help that Meena finds herself attracted to sexy-as-sin Blake Weathering, one of the new workers. If he wasn’t so distracting ...more

[...] 'it's the truth.' I glared at him. 'You wanted to kiss me just as much as I wanted to kiss you.' His eyes dropped back to my mouth and I felt the fire in my stomach rekindle. 'That's not the point.' My words were breathless and I frowned, realizing that I had agreed to what he said. Half a conversation later he hopped onto the bottom rung of the ladder so he was pressed against my back. [...] His long, hard body pressed against mine was giving me ideas I didn't need.

This phrase really bothered me like an itch in my back that I couldn't reach because this shouldn't be in a YA shelf. There's a scene in this book much suited in NA.

Who is not curious about their existence? I love reading mermaid books because I live near a beach and I usually go scuba diving so I was thinking "Damn. If ever I encounter a mermaid in one of my trips, I should at least know what to expect or how to communicat

THIS IS A MUST-READ FOR PNR AND YA FANS!!!!!!!! Wow, wow, wow, did this book ever sneak up and bite me on the tail fin!!! I am not usually a fan of mermaid stories, but this book officially breaks the mold. When I saw the NA warning in the blurb of a mermaid story, it immediately peaked my interest since I'm all about the PNR these days. Little did I know that Nichole Chase had done something that few authors dared to do; to bridge the noticeable gap between the YA reads we love so much but some ...more

I'm sitting here reviewing my notes and I'm getting overheated again! Now it's no surprise that I like me some steam and I've seen hints of Nichole's swoon abilities in her other books, but WOW! Not only did she create a delicious story, but she created characters that I fell in love with.

I am a character reader. I have to like the characters to really get sucked into a story. Well, Meena was a hit for me pretty quickly. Simply the fact that she is a sister mermaid (sh

I think it's safe to say that I'm a fan of Nichole Chase. I finished Suddenly Royal the other day and really enjoyed the light and fluffy. It was sweet fluffy, not corny fluffy. So, I decided to check out another book by Ms. Chase and found this one labeled as "new adult" instead of "young adult".

Like Suddenly Royal, it's a fairly light read. A sweet, young romance; some spicy moments; a little drama... I liked it. Could I have liked it more? Uh yes. Nichole Chase plays it safe. She could have a

Wow.. Fluke by Nichole Chase was so good!!!!! I love this sweet, entertaining and heartwarming book. When I think of mermaids, I automatically think of that beloved Disney mermaid Ariel but now I can add another mermaid to that list. This was actually my first mermaid book that I have read and this book didn't disappoint me at all. Ms. Chase was able to take readers imagination to a whole new world and at the same time keep readers engage and entertained. She was able to weave a magical world an ...more

Flukes is the story of Meena, a mermaid who was rescued and raised by a human couple after a hurricane killed her mother. She and her parents live in an animal sanctuary/reserve where Meena can swim in the ocean unnoticed and where they can all try to keep her secret. And everything seems to be going just fine until a group of community service workers come to help them spruce up their sanctuary. Among them is Blake, a seriously hot bad boy wh

Nichole Chase proves once more that she is a master story teller with an eye for the visual, an ear for the characters and a hand for molding magic.

Flukes is just delightful - a blend of smart, modern story telling infused with classic mythology that becomes fresh and full of life right off the page. Her key characters in Meena and Blake are such an attractive couple and their growth through the story arc so convincing, I came away from the story feeling as though I'd made new friends.

When Nichole said she was sending me an ARC I was beside myself. I was super excited to dive in and discover this amazing world Nichole had created. I was expecting a cute read about mermaids and what I got was cute...for a time. Then it got steamy and then it got hot...really hot! Definitely not a YA read. But of gracious me was it good. Like really good.

Um. In case it's not clear, ahem, this is a mermaid book. I would not consider it to be a spoiler, as we learn Meena is a mermaid within the first five pages. What is clear from the disclaimer is that this mermaid book is more than a little sexy. Not for young kiddos, sorry. (Not ACTUALLY sorry! It was a cool surprise for me... )

Meena lives in the Bahamas with her adopted parents, and works in their animal sanctuary, Flukes, in a prized cove. They don't have a lot of spare cash and need to spruc

Flukes is a completely original take on the mermaid tale...not tail :D. Sorry, had to do it.

Nichole Chase is a master at writing and capturing sexual tension. Through out Meena's and Blake's growing relationship you could cut the sexual tension with a knife. While the story is based on two recent high school graduates, this story is not for the younger reader because when the sex scenes finally do happen they are described and not implied.

I found Flukes to be a completely captivating read. From

Flukes is the perfect summer beach read: it's sweet, flirty, fast paced, romantic...everything I look for in a fun romance. Plus, there are mermaids! What could be better?

We know from the start that Meena is a mermaid. I really liked that we just jumped right in; there was no 'discovering I'm actually a supernatural creature' storyline, which helped move the plot along quickly. Sometimes books can really get bogged down in the 'discovery phase', but thanks to Meena already knowing what she is, t

Flukes by Nichole Chase - Mermaids, Romance, Soul Mates

I love this book! Flukes was exactly what I wanted it to be: cute, sweet, interesting, MERMAIDS, and a bit of romance. But most importantly, I kind of wanted something that was just a little fun and not that over the top with drama or intensity. Flukes fits that perfectly. If you are looking for a crazy, insane, intense, emotional whirlwind, this book probably isn't for you. But if you want something fun, cute, and sweet, Flukes is the perfect book!

I'd like to thank Inkslinger PR and the author for providing me with a copy of this book to read and give an honest review. Receiving this book for free has in no way altered my opinion or review.

I really love the idea of mermaid books. You don't see all that many of them, in my opinion, so given the opportunity to read one, I will jump at it. And this one sounded like it would be something I would like.

Nichole Chase has done it again. She captured my heart with her Dark Betrayal Trilogy. I am Team Roland all the way and I did not think I could fall in love with another of her characters and boy oh boy was I wrong. Blake is my dream man. He is the bad boy persona but at the end of the day he is the sweetest guy you could ever ask for.

I was excited to read this novel from the title alone and I am happy to say that I was not disappointed.

Hurricane Sandy leaves devastation in its wake as Ben and Marion survey the damage done to the island, they discover dolphins stuck in a netting and something more. That something had red hair, blue eyes, a tail and flukes instead of feet. The mermaid was not alone. Beside the mother dolphin

A Terrific Paranormal Read!
This is my first chance to read anything by Nicole Chase, it will not be my last!
I loved this from the start, from the blurb even! I was drawn into the story almost immediately and held captive turning pages until the very end. I haven't read more than a couple of mermaid takes, but I have to say that I am really getting into them. The whole magical idea is just fascinating. I love Mina, she is a mermaid and is very sweet, albeit a little naive, but she is also smart,

To be honest, I didn't know this was a mermaid book until I read a review on Goodreads. Call me stupid but I really didn't get that from the summary or the cover. I know.

I feel like this is a bit like Twilight. Especially the romance. I thought it was too fast, only knew each other a few weeks and then now they're like confessing their 'true love' to each other. YUCK. And since this is more NA than YA, a few scenes are quite graphic and a little 'more' than typical YA romantic scenes. Just war

Meena and Blake meet when Blake is sentenced to community service at her family's animal center, Flukes. There's attraction at first sight, but Blake also antagonizes Meena by badmouthing the center, even before a complete introduction can be made. Even with all of the sparks flying between them, Meena can't let her guard down with Blake because of her secret.

This story is unique in that I can't recall reading or seeing anything similar to this. It's fast paced with never a low point. Once or t

WOW I really read paranormal romance any more I'm more of a contemp romance girl. But New Adult Flukes was awesome and I can't wait for the 2nd book. Also check out the authors Pinterest board as it's a great extra to the book!!!!
Loved both the characters. Blake and Meena were awesome, as were the secondary characters.
The story was easy to get I to. Therew could have been more to the story but I really enjoyed it.
And the sex... oh goodness. It was pretty good for a NA, definately not expecting it.
SO CUTE!!!!!!!!!

Yep this book was all types of cute. IT reminded me so much of the little mermaid except a little more mature if ya know what i mean ;3

This is a great mermaid novel for those tired of the really kiddie YA mermaid novels (which I still love, to be honest). Meena grew up knowing she was a mermaid, as does her best friend, and so there's no long and drawn out self-discovery of this (although being an isolated mermaid means there are some things she doesn't know). What is the main plot of the book is Meena's relationship with Blake the Bad Boy, and there's an interesting cross between free will and
