I could not find a place to get involved in this story. I dangled over the edge most of the story trying to find a spot to land. I wasn't a fan of any of the characters and struggled with the writing style. A boxer, the religious aspects, and then the excessive acts... See what you think.
4.25⭐️ Let me start by saying this book will light a fire in your back to not only do better but be better!
Nako was preaching in this book. So many lessons of choosing God, having faith, and letting him lead your life. I feel like this made the book so beautiful. I shed tears a few times. This book was perfect for me.
While there are romantic elements to this story. It is a true redemption story of family betrayal and the world’s champ overcoming all the obstacles thrown at him.
I really enjoyed this book! Even though very wordy, I’m proud to say I didn’t even skim the pages. That’s how locked in I was. But it could’ve been 200 pages less. In my opinion, some things were brought up but never settled.
Random thoughts and possible spoilers: Kendrick was truly horrible, money-hungry, and jealous of his flesh and blood. It’s crazy to me how they all played the victim. Like this man carried y'all on his back and the minute a storm comes y'all can’t even check on him? LETS BFFR
Whitney was so annoying at times. She didn’t know when to take her foot off the gas. I’m glad her therapist called her out on it. It would’ve been nice for Trust to go to therapy too.
There were a few parts of the book that I don’t understand why was mentioned like Paige’s battle with infertility, My hosting her book club at the house, or even him and Whitney having disagreements, sometimes we never saw the resolution of it all.
There are also characters from other books mentioned in this book. But in my opinion, it’s truly a standalone. Yes, it’ll be nice to know these characters' back stories but I was able to read between the lines until I got into the Underworld series.
I can’t end this review without saying RIP Uncle Pat💔

This is a great book. Thank you so much for these beautiful words that you placed on paper. When people count you out...but God. Just read the damn book.
I tried really hard to enjoy this story for what it was. My biggest issue is that it is not an urban romance like the synopsis claims. The love interest doesn't even appear for 180 pages. That's 179 pages of backstory before the reader even meets one of the main characters. I didn't really see the romantic vibe. The characters worked together and talked business a few times and the next thing you know they were kissing. Why? I would've liked to understand why they were attracted to each other, how'd they fallen in love, and so on. I think there was so much focus on the backstory, the actual romance plot fell to the wayside and it was too late to convince the readers of an attraction that deep into a story.
This story is more of a redemption story for a professional boxer. There was also a few sub-plots that added no benefit to the romance or the main character. Why did we need the narration from Paige or Myja? Nothing pertinent was ever shared. Although the story is in 3rd person POV, it constantly switched from person to person with no notification. The back and forth of the narration-POVs was very confusing especially when it was happening mid-scene.
*SPOILER ALERT*
I also didn't understand how the main character was accused of DV in the beginning of the story then at then end it's mentioned he's accused of DV AND rape. If he was accused of rape why wasn't that mentioned? Why wasn't he arrested? He never even went to court? It didn't make sense. It seemed to be something thrown in to make another issue relevant.
Lastly, I could have done without the random CAPS LOCK sentences. It was annoying and no one yells that much. Things that didn't even need to be emphasized were yelled.
Whew! This book gave me all that I could handle! One thing Nako will do is make sure the WORD is at the forefront of the story. Watching the way Trust overcame so many adversities and still came out on top was truly enlightening, healing, and fulfilling. Trust‘s story was very common in the professional athletes realm and Nako executed that well on page. I know we yell ‘family over everything’ but sometimes you have to set firm boundaries and carve your own path. I loved how Trust found his lane, gave back to the community, and continued to spread the good word ❤️🙏🏾
This book was just complete for me. It touches on every aspect of life..... love, challenges, redemption, faith, betrayal and the list goes on and on. Would love to get an update on Kendrick, Jasira and Paige. They each deserve a book! Nako is simply on my top 5 authors list! I'm heading on to start the Love drought series cos of the mentions in this book! Thank you so much for gracing us with your talent!!!
What a beautiful spiritual journey! A timely messages were tucked away in the story of Trust. Just when one thought that you couldn't the author reminded us that God can. Loved this transformative spiritual journey.
This was actually my first read from the author and I have to say I am thoroughly impressed. I enjoyed reading about Trust’s journey and also the relationship Whitney and him developed. I also believed that Trust’s family didn’t really feel like they were using him they were just used to what they had been doing. For the longest they all were stagnant and not trying to obtain more for themselves because of complacency. I hated how Ken was but happy Trust was able to breakthrough and get to him so he could get the help he needed. Masterfully written and impactful.
I have NEVER read a book that had me wanting to do better overall. How did this book that was so spiritual be such a GREAT romance book. Omg. Trust is Bae! ❤️
I don't know why I waited so long to read this book. Very well written. It is an amazing story filled with life's trials, tribulations, and the spiritual presence of God. Through him, all things are possible. And we definitely get to experience that through Trust. Trust was a provider for his family and had a good heart. He was tested tremendously when all the good things he experienced came to an end. I believe it was God's way of showing him that you are more than what you portray yourself as or what people see. I really loved his spiritual journey and his connection with Bishop. But also him acquiring a brotherhood with the likes of past characters who we've all come to learn and love. With their guidance and spiritual gems, Trust was able to look deeper within himself towards a better path in life. Although Whitney had her own issues, she never failed Trust, which brought them closer spiritually and their bond unmatched. I loved the growth in Trust, and even though his relationships with his cousins were not the same, he would always be there if need be. He closed his chapter from the past and started a new chapter filled with his faith, love and family.
Nako, girl you did your thing with this book! You showed that little beginnings can be much when you put God in the head of it! You showed humility, forgiveness, restoration and genuine love in this novel! It took me 3 days to finish it but it was well worth the journey! Trust was a beautiful character, we see him blossom on the pages! Jasia unfortunately was just A childhood distraction and it was evident that everybody can't go with you when God elevates you to greater! Unc Pat was my fav, I hated he wasn't there to see the rebirth! Paige and Kendrick had a lot to learn about loyalty and Myja was just trying to get in where she fitted in! She loved Ken but he had to learn to love himself! This book helped me to realize you just have to let go and let God! Thanks for the cameo of some of my favorite characters! Glad to see Sara and Grace still praising God! Nasir King is still one of my favorite characters! I just loved this novel, can't wait for the next one! Love you to life!!!
All I can say is wow. This book was just what I needed at this point. I actually was going through some things in my life that had me doubting my faith, so the gems that were dropped in this story came right on time for me. It touched on lots of topics such as love, hope, forgiveness and faith. But it also touched on addiction, depression and family dynamics. Trust, a heavy weight champion, was not able to fight for two years and learned that his cousins were using him during this process. After trusting in God, listening to Bishop and changing his lifestyle, he came back better than ever, fell in love and had the family that he always wanted. This book was one of the best that I’ve read so far this year and I’d definitely recommend it to anyone. It was well written, flowed well, kept my attention and overall great.
Trust was a broken person who had to hit rock bottom before he would accept and rely on a higher calling. Trust had the fame and fortune but his life was not complete. One bad incident led him on a path of redemption and new beginnings. Trust and Whitney were great together. It was great to set the familiar characters from the other series.
This book helped me with my relationship with God, a lot of times we get weary in well doing and wonder when will it be our time but we are so deserving of all things good. Thank you for the reminder Miss Nako.
My Lord, this book fed my soul. I wouldn’t categorize this as an romance novel, however it does have sex and romance. But Nako did give a strong example of what trusting God will do for your life.

As much as I love books that keep me entertained, I also love books that keep me thinking and make me learn. Seeing thoughts I’ve had represented and handled in this book was amazing. I loved it.
At its root this book is about faith, family and finding love. It was a little long and sometimes unfocused but overall a good read. Definitely a different take on urban romance.
I really like the concept for this book. I really believe that there are a lot of things that we can learn from it. But I think we need to be mindful that Christianity is properly being presented to make sure that people are not being misled, one thing that stood out to me was when I was reading the first chapter introducing whitney and she was referred to as a “libra”. Astrology is divination and in the bible it says “Let no one be found among you who sacrifices their son or daughter in the fire, who practices divination or sorcery, interprets omens, engages in witchcraft,” Deuteronomy 18:10 and in 2 Kings 17:17 divination is also one of the reasons why Israel was exiled. In Act 16:16 it says “And it came to pass, as we went to prayer, a certain damsel possessed with a spirit of divination met us, which brought her masters much gain by soothsaying:” this girl then had to be delivered from a demon that was giving her the power of divination. We can therefore conclude that divination is a sin and is not something that we should associate ourselves with. Also, it would have been nice to see whitney and trust wait for marriage to have sex and the things they did to make sure that they didn’t fall into temptation. If they did fall into temptation it would have been interesting to see the things they did to make sure it didnt happen again like pray and fast and so on and so forth. A lot of Christians like to focus on Christian teachings that make them feel good but forget that God has called us to flee from sexual immorality/fornication, we cant call ourselves christians and say that we truly love God and pick and choose what rules to abide by. After a while i just stopped reading. Also i don’t think the other pov’s were needed
In Him I Trust! This storyline was full of gems, reminders that God's grace is sufficient, trust Him through the process, and extend the same grace that He gives us! Whew, your anointing anointing, your craft, may He continue to make room for your gifts, Nako!
This was everything!! This wasn't just a read. It felt like an experience! When I tell you, I ate till I was full!
First time read by this author. Nako took me to church! this is a definite must buy for my home catalog.
Had me feeling like Lauren Hill when she said: "....he found my letters and read each word out loud"!
My every prayer! Every fear! was laid before me in black and white ink! I can't express how much I enjoyed this. I was a spiritual awakening and confirmation. I was up at 2am, unable to put this book down, consuming every crumb.
The way the author was able to tie the entire book in the word for Truth? Gah!
The song quotes as chapter headings will make up smile, Bob your head and vibe. They also felt so intentional. They flowed and tied together that chapter seamlessly.
Be forewarned the characters in the book; some are saved, some are not. Some are finding their footing. So there is cussing, smoking, and explicit sex language.
The author also has an unhealthy obsession with speaking on people's bodily functions. Like whyyy 🤦🏾♀️. It's totally random, and you could get your word count in a different way, but I digress.
10/10 I recommend and look forward to meeting the other characters mentioned in the book in their stories/ books:

This book was soul touching. It took me awhile to read it because I didn’t know how religious it would get but babbyyy this book was so amazing from the front page to the last page. I love me some Nako her pen definitely be penning!! Man oh man. The way Trust gets to the top after all the things he had to endure as a child. He made a way out of no way. I know his cousin did not have his best interest when he signed him up for that fight after Trust told him he needed a break!! Trust was a genuine person and I understood him. He was young and wanted to have his cake and eat it too but he really hurt Jasira. They hurt each other, but I was happy she was women enough to let him know I don’t think I want to be with you anymore, but I also don’t want nobody else with you either. The things he went through and his so called never once checked on him that spoke volume. I was so happy and thankful he was blessed with a new crew that had his best interest and helped him elevate.
I was hoping for Trust and Jasira to rekindle after the past they had. I know Jasira will be blessed with her husband. This book is a must read.
This is the kind of book that makes you wish these characters were a part of your true life friend circle. I’m legit wishing they were real people and I knew them personally. I LOOOOOVVVVVVEEEEDDD Trust’s entire story. I shed tears when he did. I was happy and smiling when he was. I was pissed when they tried to come for him and almost succeeded. This is the 1st book that I was actually marking pages on my kindle. I love how characters from previous Nako novels were referenced. I found myself trying to recall their individual stories. She brought in Nasir y’all!!! Trust’s journey to finding his faith and genuine love through his trials from having the wrong people around you, having too much of something, to trusting that God will ALWAYS send you what you need when you are able, open and ready to receive his blessings was everything. I LITERALLY did not want this book to end. Him and Whitney’s journey was eye opening, refreshing and sexy. My only wish was that we knew more about his parents and his cousins/uncle’s story but this book is a winner. I really enjoyed this one. Ohh… more on Selah too!! Her story is coming soon I hope!
I gave this book 4 stars being that it felt like he was being fluffed or maybe the author didn’t have a guide on where she wanted to it to go. There are a lot of definitions in this story… a lot of irrelevant information I felt like. There where no breaks in between characters one time it’s jas, then ken, then trust but you weren’t sure who was next. I also have no idea who looks like what besides trust. There were descriptions of houses, condos, cars etc. lots of bible scriptures, an abundance of bible scriptures. Lots talk about church, she mentions other characters from other books and I haven’t read this so it made no sense that they would have a chapter to themselves. Also trust cries ALOT, he changes so much in the book but it’s like never explained and he’s a whole different character by the end. Just wasnt my cup of tea, but that writing is immaculate per usual.
This is a book about redemption and second chances. Trust is the heavy weight champ of the world with everything that he could of dreamed of, he employs his family as well, and keeps his friends straight . He has everything, except what is needed, true genuine people around that means him well. When he has his 1st career upset and then allegations come out. He loses the one thing he loves to do. With his back against the wall, he really see who was truly for him. And what God has in store for him. Nako does not disappoint EVER. Every book Nako puts out, it strengthens my Faith in what God can do. Even though this is a work of Fiction, her books always restore my faith, and the gems she drops while following the storyline. . If you been going back and forth about if you should purchase this book. PLEASE DO.
This book took me on a journey of faith that had me praising God. The journey that Trust went on throughout this book to find the peace he needed showed how when you lay your burdens at God’s feet and allow him to fight your battles you will be blessed beyond measure. I don’t want to say too much about the storyline but I will definitely recommend that you download it your soul will truly be blessed!! Nako I commend you for being your authentic self and allowing God to use you to bless others with his word. I have been on my spiritual journey to be closer to God for years now and reading your book there were I ran across some things that I will definitely implement in my daily walk with him going forward. Thank you and keep spreading his word it is greatly needed and appreciated.
I really tried to get into this book, but it was not for me. Made it 30% in, and it still felt like I was reading the introduction. At that point I got bored and skimmed a few chapters before ultimately giving up, which I really hate doing. I couldn't connect with Truth, didn't even make it to the main women (still not sure who she was supposed to be) because every character mentioned before her had a side story that needed to be told for some reason. I also did not care for the excessive 3rd person writing and lack of character dialog. I prefer to be told a story through the characters' experience and not an essay about what happened from the narrator. Very minimal grammatical errors from what I did read, and the author seems to have extensive knowledge, but it was a miss, in my opinion.
