This guy loves to bring together post-911 domestic terrorism, conspiracy theorists and cold cases. I wouldn’t have otherwise given this novel even three stars except that the premise for the story is a good one. But, again, as I found with the other two books in the series, his writing left me a bit cold. Many of the relationships the author describes are characterized by that old saw - inefficiency borne of interagency waffling, mistrust, politics, partial disclosure and one-upmanship. This novel really intrigued me. Of course it's another San Francisco noir, with all the unique characters and great descriptions of the the Bay Area. Our Ben Raveneau and Liz La Rosa are back to solve who put the skulls and skeletons in the bomb shelter. Very well written and kept me up at nights until I finished it. Well done.
I aimed at writing long ago but that turned out to more romance than reality. Looking back, I was lucky to learn something about the world first. Never gave up on writing though. It just took longer.
