This series is not at all what I expected. From the begining until the forth book, so far I was expecting something big to happen, something bigger than our main character being tortured emotionally and physically. All we get it is our main character going through hell, again and again. Losing friends, being manipulated, bullied, beaten up and even feed on, what kept me going was how strong our character is and I loved her for not giving up! All through out, I had the hope that something would h ...more

After finishing a book with a cliffhanger yesterday, I really didn't need to finish another one with a big cliffhanger. And, just like the other book, no news about the next in the series. Seriously, these authors are trying to have me locked in an asylum. Okay, drama aside, I enjoyed this book. I'll not say I liked this one as much as I did the other ones in the series, but it was still a nice read.

Life on the island is more dangerous than ever, now that Drew is realtively isolated from the oth

The story keeps getting more intricate & complicated. I know other reviewers have mentioned how annoying Drew is but she is still such a realistic character that isn't always strong or smart but she always tries. I think she is a pretty accurate representation of a girl her age. She can be irritating but most of the time you just really sympathize with her. However, I did feel like the repetitive attacks on her got kind of old and would have liked something new or different. I would also lik ...more

OMG I NEED THIS BOOK. Like Yesterday.
There's a 3 year hiatus between the 4th and 5th books. I mean, are they kidding?

So frustrating! All of the interesting developments happened in the final 30-40 pages. Most of the book was romance stuff and angst caused by insecurity and miscommunication. (It doesn't help that I'm not a fan of her love interest.) There were some exciting bits throughout the book, but they seemed repetitive, and the clues that were sprinkled throughout were too obvious, so I wasn't super surprised by the ending. I would have written off this series, but the final pages added to the whole myth ...more

If i compared this book to the previous ones it would be bad. It just seems like it's dragging the story and five chapters could easily be put into one. And besides, aside some repetitive attacks from the boys there was no action at all and it seemed like it was more focused on the romance part with Carden and Ronan.

I needed to stay alert. One of these days, there just might be a real blade and it would be aimed at my back.

Drew is starting to piss me off. She did

WAIT, STOP! This review contains spoilers from earlier in the series. You have been warned.

In the fourth book in The Watcher's series, we find Annelise still at school in her second year, now ranked "Initiate." The training is tough, but her relationships with others are often tougher. Many still won't forgive her for her friend Emma's brutal death, but when Annelise discovers there's a chance Emma survive, she hatches a plan to find a way into the castle. Of course, on top of that is her schoo

I just love this series. I really do. It’s not too often I come across a set of books that end up being like crack. But The Watchers is one of those few series for me and I legit can’t get enough of it. Mainly because it’s pretty brutal and Drew’s kind of a BAMF and doesn’t take any crap.

One of two things I didn’t like about THE KEEP is that the plot is largely unresolved at the end. You find out one little tidbit about what’s happening but bag’s open, cats are everywhere and they’re pissed the
I wish I wouldn’t have read that fast. I’m a bit of a reading glutton – the better the book, the faster and more I read till it goes down the wrong pipe and bam I’m choking (or in this case, I miss important bits).

That might explain my reaction when I finished reading the last sentence of this book. I went forward on my Kindle, and then back, and then forward again. Because either I missed something earlier or there is more in here somewhere. I mean, you’re not even going to explain that cryptic

The Scene

Drew's on an island again doing her own kickass routine. There's lots of training in this one with Ronan to boot. The whole thing with Emma in the previous book, Blood Fever, was dealt with (kinda), thank god, but it was still sad.

The Girl

Oh gosh. Can I just say that I love Drew? She is awesome and so kickass. I love her fight, her snark, and how strong she is. Yeah, she makes some stupid decision sometimes (who doesn't?) but I think that's what makes her a bit realistic, especially for

Sigh... What can I say that I haven't said before about Veronica Wolff's AMAZING "Watchers" series? I adore every single book. There is literally NEVER a dull moment. I'm never bored and if anything I'm always pining for the next book before I've even finished what I'm reading at that moment. I love Acari Drew because she is such an out of the box character from the normal YA characters. She is smart and she knows it! She is snarky and has a potty mouth, and I love every second of (reading) it! ...more

This is the fourth book in the watchers series by Veronica Wolff. And if you haven't started this series yet than you need to run to the nearest bookstore.

Full of danger, passion, and mystery. My only problem is that most of the action doesn't truly start until the last fourth of the book. It leaves you wanting more. So now after reading the keep I am stuck staring at my bookshelf for a year until the next book is released. Complete torture. I want more.

Caution Spoiler:

OMG, seriously. Ok first off it you haven't read The Watcher series what are you waiting for, come on go start reading.
Secondly, I'm speechless and I think I've got whiplash because one minute I want her to forget everything and take Ronan. But then I jump back to Carden with his passion and wanting to be near here, bond or no bond.
I'd definitely recommend The Keep heck the whole series. The Keep had me questioning everything about the rock, the vampires and the mystery of the runes. By the end

It leaves me fickle with the choices she will have to make. Who to trust, who to love, how to survive?

I hated the moment my finger swept across my iPad for the next page only to find it my last...and the last paragraph!?! Again I will be stuck waiting, cursing cliffhangers, until I can have th

I'm truly pissed off. I waited MONTHS for this novel, only to have the end be exciting and the rest be completely boring. I couldn't believe what a yawn the novel truly was. I thought this novel would be awesome but it was overly too predictable. I can only hope that the fifth installment comes out faster and is more amazing that this one.

Review originally posted on my blog: A Book Obsession..

Drew may have survived her first year at Isle of Night, but she is far from safe. Despite her bond and relationship with Carden, a very old, very mysterious vampire, she still isn't satisfied with life on the island. She's determined to have vengeance for her lost friend Emma, who may or may not be alive. All she knows is that Emma was taken to the castle, the one place no human ever returns from. Between warding off attacks left and right a
I was really excited about reading THE KEEP. So much that I started reading it the day I received it in the mail. While it might not be my favorite book of the series, it does set up the future books quite nicely. Like the previous three books, it was edgy, smart and full of historical lore.

The main character, Drew, was someone I was able to identify with in the previous books. While she still comes off as intelligent and unyielding like in the other books, I think her recklessness in THE KEEP m
