Recommends it for: Cozy mystery readers
"Footprints in the Sand" is a typical Mary Jane Clark suspense/mystery. It's a great read for a weekend, vacation, or a day at the beach. It's not heavy, but it certainly isn't a light read either. The chapters are super short, which I like, and the story moves very fast. I love how Piper and Jack's relationship is beginning to blossom. I love a little romance mixed in with my mysteries. I also like how Ms. Clark adds a little "research" to each of her stories. The "research" for "Footprints in ...more

I really enjoyed this one. I hadn't heard of this series before, but I think I will probably look up some of the others. I like that I didn't figure out the culprit right away. I was a little surprised, in fact. I thought the amount of Amish information was interesting. I never thought about Amish being in Florida, but if this book is anything to go by, I guess there is a substantial community around Sarasota. The book does seem to be well researched on that aspect.
I usually love Mary Jane Clark and this series. This one annoyed me. It almost seemed like she was trying to make the main character seem younger. She kept having her post pictures to facebook and abrieviating words until I wanted to stop reading. She also didn't do too much to solve this one, she just kind of stumbled around until the bad guy went after her.

I will read the next one, but I'll just get it from the library instead of buying it.

I enjoyed this murder mystery story. The plot kept me guessing until the very end, and I live in FL and absolutely adored the description of the beach setting. However I felt that some of the character descriptions lacked a little interest and a few paragraphs had me skimming to find more intriguing dialogue. I love mysteries and this was a nice weekend read. I would be interested in reading another book by Mary Jane Clark to see how they compare.

I'm enjoying this series, more than just because the books are quick reads. This particular story was fun, and I loved where the wedding took place in this one. Florida, the food, the weather. The story was just fun. One more book left in this series.

A fun, quick read with familiar characters and pretty good story. Not her best, but fun and a good, light read.

I enjoyed reading this book. Of course I THOUGHT I had figured who the culprit was for a good while before the end, when I found out I was way off.

In Footprints in the Sand, Piper Donovan is in Sarasota, Florida for her cousin's wedding. Not only is she making the wedding cake, but she's also the maid of honor. When one of the bridesmaids disappears and some other incidents threaten to postpone the wedding, Piper steps in to solve the mystery and save the day. She's got her work cut out for her though, because everyone's been keeping secrets and even the most innocent actions are suspect.

I really enjoyed this 3rd installment of the Weddin

When I started Footprints in the Sand I wasn't aware that it was part of an existing series, however this won't really impact your reading experience by much. Piper Donovan is presented to us as a cool twenty-something actress/wedding cake designer with a penchant for getting herself embroiled into mysteries and of being street-smart enough to help solve these mysteries. In Footprints Piper is attending the wedding of her cousin's wedding, only that her cousin seems to be ill-at-ease because one ...more

Weddings are usually a time for joy and happiness, not for murder. Yet in the midst of wedding plans for Kathy Leeds and Dan Clemens, people that are part of the wedding plans keep on showing up missing. When one of Kathy's bridemaids, Shelley Hart goes missing for a few days, she begins to wonder just where she has gone since it's out of character for her to leave and not let someone know. Not only that, Nora Golubock claims she saw a man carrying a body into the bushes late at night but never ...more

It was quite nice to listen to this audio book about Florida beaches while driving through snow.

What a great mystery! This is the first book I have read by Mary Jane Clark and won't be the last. I would classify this as a cozy except I think it is more suspense-mystery than cozy. Piper Donovan is a hard character for me to love but I like her OK. I think the thing is that she did a couple of really stupid things like giving an envelope full of money to a person to give to someone else without knowing who she was giving it to and went swimming alone when she knew a killer was out there. I g ...more

Typical of Mary Jane Clark. "Footprints in the Sand" is a quick and easy light read, perfect for the weekend by the pool. Good story, not too predictive, but not a 'bite your fingernails' suspense either.

Awesome read

Piper's escapades at the Whispering Sands Inn left me want to read way too long! I should tell you that this book is well written and has many twists and turns, I was leaning an entirely different direction of who killed who up until Piper discovers the wedding gift she presented to her cousin turned me upside down! Lots of twists and turns make this book a joy to read!!!!

Footprints In The Sand
Mary Jane Clark

My "in a nutshell" summary...

Florida...sun...sand...and...murder...actually more than one murder.

My thoughts after reading this book...

Hmmm...there are tons of interesting characters in this book...and I suspected each and everyone of them while I was reading. And can I just say that every once in a while I love books with lots of really short chapters? Yum! This book had the best short chapters ever...each one made me suspect someone new. I truly did not

Piper's cousin, Kathy, in Sarasota is getting married and Piper is her maid of honour. Plus Piper and her mom are making the wedding cake (Piper's mom runs a bakery in New Jersey where Piper helps out). Shelley, Kathy's bridesmaid, has disappeared and Kathy is understandably concerned.

Piper's widowed aunt (Kathy's mother), Nora, is dating Walter, who owns the hotel where Piper's family is staying. He is in the process of trying to convince the surrounding neighbours (including Nora) to sell the

so, this one was much more in line with what i'd classify "beachy summer mystery" - not terrible enough that it takes forever to convince yourself to get into it and not so great you wish you'd read it when you could really focus on each and every authorial decision.

honestly, i picked this one up because i assumed the author was mary higgins clark, not mary jane clark.

i'm guessing she benefits from that mistake often.

turns out, they're ex-in-laws. SO close.

Love this cozy mystery
This was an ok cozy I didn't realize it was 3rd in a series so it took a little while to learn the characters backgrounds, some of the story was a bit farfetched but the characters made me curious enough that I may go back and listen to the first 2.

I enjoyed parts of this book but had a problem with the actions of some of the characters, it did keep me guessing and a couple of the red herrings did get me.

The part that annoyed me the most was Piper’s posting everything to Facebook and the way sh

The plot revolves around Piper Donovan who's in sunny Sarasota Florida with her family to attend the wedding of her beloved cousin. Shortly after the rehearsal dinner, they find out one of the bridesmaids mysteriously disappeared and it's up to Piper to unmask the mystery.

This book was such a disappointment to me. First of all, there was no mention whatsoever that this is not a stand alone title but part of a series so if you're not a Mary Jane Clark books veteran then chances are you'll end up

A good book for free time reading. Nothing much to expand the mind. It did have a nice setting and had some interesting tidbits about the Florida coastal city on the Gulf. A beach read for sure.

Piper Donovan, aspiring actress, is headed to Florida to be the maid-of-honor in her cousin's wedding and to help her mom bake the wedding cake. When she arrives, she find that one of the bridesmaids has disappeared and no one has seen her for three days. This is just the first of a string of unfortunate events that seem to be plaguing this wedding. The beautiful Sarasota beach setting seems to be covering a dark secret and Piper is determined to find out what it is so her cousin's wedding won't ...more

I love Amish books and my husband started this book and then handed it to me to read instead. The Amish story line turned out to be pretty weak and didn't really add much to this story at all. I found this book silly, really silly and not something I would usually choose to read. I have read ‘Cozy’ books in the past and enjoyed them….but not my favorite genre. A good gritty mystery is more my pace. That said I have to say that if this was my first ‘cozy’ it would be my last.

Adult/High School–Piper Donovan is back to solve another murder with a fabulously implausible connection to a wedding. This time she is the maid of honor at her cousin’s wedding in Florida when one of the bridesmaids turns up dead, followed shortly by an attempted murder on a potential witness, another possibly related murder, and a mysterious suicide. Piper’s attention is divided among her role in the wedding, supporting her cousin; the ever increasing body count; and the impending meeting betw ...more

Talk about drama right before a wedding. Kathy and Dan planned a romantic beach wedding, but one of Kathy's bridesmaid was found murdered only days before the wedding. Several other events occurred because the murderer tries to make sure the people that saw, or heard him couldn’t come forward.

Mary Jane Clark wrote an enjoyable book that was easy to follow and keeps your interest. It’s not too intense, but a book you defiantly want to finish.

Piper is excited to head to the balmy beaches of Florida to attend her cousins wedding. But when the deaths and accidents start adding up she enlists her boyfriend's help. He is in the FBI and she hopes that he can provide some answers before her cousins wedding is ruined.

I'm pretty picky about my mysteries and I really enjoyed this one. It wasn't incredibly suspenseful and not a bit gory. This is apparently the third book in the series, but I never felt confused or left out. There were enough
