Using board books on basic skills is always fun. Brian Briggs Everything Goes has books with a transportation theme that is very fun and these two new board books are right there. Everything Goes: 123 Beep Beep Beep!: A Counting Book counts 1-10 with various vehicles. Each page provides plenty of discussion and conversation. Everything Goes: Stop! Go!: A Book of Opposites provides the next step in everything from up/down, stop/go and beyond. As always these illustrations are bright, vibrant and ...more

F grabbed this at the library today and was attempting to teeth on it, so I read it to her instead. She actually sat and looked at the pictures for a few pages before she scrambled off in her new quest to pull her little 9-month-old body up on everything. The illustrations are colorful, the concept is simple, I like that all of the opposites are presented through transportation and vehicles. S would have loved this when he was a baby.

This is a cute concept book, clear and uncluttered. Each pair of opposites is presented on a double page spread. The first page says slow and has a man on a bicycle. The second says fast and has a racing car. All the pictures are cartoon and brightly colored. The other concepts are up and down, small and big, many and few, off and on, old and new, loud and quiet, far and near, and of course stop and go. There are bits of humor scattered throughout.

This is a great little board book for introducin

A board book that reviews opposites with cars, trucks, trains etc. Brightly colored with detailed illustrations, this book is great for sharing with toddlers. I was impressed with the range of opposites included because it covered some concepts not featured in other books on the same subject (i.e. full/empty, off/on, and far/near to cite a few examples).

FROM Weird Business, 1995:

Often compared to Charles Addams and Edward Gorey, Brian Biggs first unleashed his bizarre storytelling skills on an unsuspecting world with the love story Frderick & Eloise (Fantagraphics). Since then Brian's work has appeared in a variety of magazines. He is currently in negotiations for his new graphic novel Dear Julia.
