Heavy Metal is book 2 in the Goddesses Rising trilogy by Natalie J. Damschroder. This book starts out three years after Sam left the employ of Quinn, leaving her to begin her life as a couple with her longtime protector, Nick. And trying to give himself the time to heal. Giving her up was the hardest thing he had ever done since he’d been in love with her for a very long time. He is now working as a bartender in a dive bar, having cut himself off from the Society and from Nick and Quinn.

One of the things that I like best about my kindle is that I CAN'T flip the book to re-read the synopsis when I am reading a book. I find myself pleasantly surprised, more often than not, as I'm reading by how much I am enjoying the book. My kindle is also breaking me from my cover habit. I DO judge books by their covers: the covers are what draws me in to pick it up and flip it over and read the blurb. This cover did exactly the same thing. *Fans face* Mmmm paranormal romance, hot body, why is ...more

This book is no other paranormal story. I don't mean the the love story and the bad guys. I mean the Goddess aspect.

Wow -- this was a really great read! I haven't read book 1 in this Goddess Rising series, but will definitely be checking it out! I had no trouble catching up, and actually had no idea there was a book previous to this one. This works great as a stand alone or as part of the series (now that I've read the synopsis of the first book).

This book follows a "goddess" in a world that acknowledges these magic wielding women. The powers and

Heavy Metal is the long awaited sequel to ‘Under the Moon’ and second in the ‘Goddesses Rising’ series.
This time around we meet Riley who has made her way to Sam Remington’s bar (Sam appeared in the first book as a love interest). Riley isn’t really aware of her ‘goddess’ nature because it had become dormant in her family… but when she discovers something strange happens when she’s around metal and believing what her grandma told he

I wasn’t sure what to expect from this series since I hadn’t read the first book, but this installment was exciting and fast-paced enough to keep me reading. There was a backstory to Sam that I’m now wondering about, and I may end up reading the first book just to satisfy my curiosity. But Heavy Metal is Sam and Riley’s chapter, so I’ll try to avoid any spoilers to previous events!

Heavy Metal A Goddesses Rising Novel Natalie J. Dramschroder.

ARC supplied by Netgalley.

I hadn't realised there was a previous book to this one, but it didn't make any difference as the novel was easy to follow. I was a little wary at first, not sure what to expect, and thinking it would be based around mythical Greek/Roman goddesses or something, I like those but couldn't see how they'd fit this story. However it was current time descendants of them who had special talents, these being passed d

This book is book 2 in the Goddesses Rising Trilogy and it is set 3 years after the events in book one - Under the Moon.

The events in this book are heavily entwined with the events in Under the Moon, they are in fact almost a direct consequence of the events in book one. As a result it features almost an exact cast of characters with the addition of Riley. Despite this, you don't need to have read Under the Moon to pick up and enjoy He

This is the second book in the series and I did not read the first one. However, that wasn’t a problem. I could still understand it and got into the story quickly.

I loved Natalie’s writing style. The book is so well written and you just flow through the story because she writes so smoothly… It all sounded, I don’t know…. intelligent :D She just knows her way around the English language.

find it amazing how many wonderful books there are out there. Books that I have never heard of and authors unknown. I am so glad that I discovered Netgalley and have an opportunity to explore these fantastic authors.

Heavy Metal is book two in author, Natalie J. Damschroder's Goddess Rising Series and Ms. Damschroder tells an interesting tale. Goddesses are descendants of the original gods and for some reason only the goddesses are the only ones who have survived.. or is that true?

Picking up three years later, Heavy Metal starts with Sam working in a different bar, where Riley walks in, looking quite nervous. Well, she walks out the back exit and is followed by some unknown people, whom she is able to knock out using her metal magic. Of course, Sam comes out to help and starts questioning her. It turns out that Riley knows nothing about her goddess heritage, but is reluctant to go to the Society for help. She tracked him down thanks to his goddess defense videos, but now ...more
Heavy Metal was just what I wanted from this series. 1. Sam, 2. Action, 3. Sam, lol. Yes, I absolutely loved Sam in Under The Moon. He was like the built, smart, sexy and dedicated third wheel and I wanted nothing more than to see him find happiness.

Heavy Metal takes off with an unknown goddess finding her way to our sexy sweetheart from book one, Sam. The goddess mentioned is Riley, a frightened young girl who just happens to live off the grid from the rest of the goddess world. The story is n

I received this book and realized after reading it that it is the second book in the Godesses Rising Series. I have to say I did not even realize I was not reading a stand alone book. Great writing, great story! What more can you ask for? Heavy Metal grabs you right from the start – and in a way I had not anticipated – and keeps you turning the pages right through to a very satisfying end.
Pursued by unknown people determined to turn her life upside down, Riley Kordek has only recently discovered she is a goddess, but has no one she can trust to ask about the meaning of it all. Except, perhaps, for Sam Remington, a lowly barkeep, perhaps, but also a man with the knowledge she

The second book in this series does not disappoint and we get to see so much more of that yummy Sam.

Riley ends up at Sam's bar after a bunch of strange things happen to her. After reading about Sam on the goddess website, she goes to him for help. Newly discovering she has special power and her family saying they couldn't trust the goddess society, she isn't sure what to believe. She isn't even sure goddesses are real.

This book didn't leave me disappointed either so I must be having good luck with my strategy. Being the second in a series, I have NOT ready the first in this either, the storyline could be a stand alone. It had a back story of the previous book but also followed up with enough that it didn't leave the reader hanging going : what the F just happened?!"

This is book two in the series, Goddess Rising. I did not read the first book. I struggled a little in understanding some of the characters and I could tell there were details I would have known if I had read the first book. But it did not deter me from finishing this book in a day.

This is a direct sequel to Under the Moon. If you didn't like that one, you're not going to like this one and I wouldn't advise reading Heavy Metal without reading Under the Moon first.

It's a little ponderous. There's another conspiracy a-brewing and the hero, Sam, is angsty, borderline whiny at times, but Riley, the heroine, is very credible. I couldn't exactly relate to her struggles, having never been on the run or possessing an affinity for metal, but I co

First, I would like to thank the author Natalie J. Damschroder for giving me this book for an honest review. This book is very well written, the story was good and full of action. I have conflicting feelings about this book. First off, I loved the idea behind this series. The characters were amazing, and the story line was so good that I read it in on sitting. However there were several spots that seemed to resolve so quickly that I found myself backtracking to previous pages to see if I missed something. Just seemed like there might have been vital parts that had been cut out or shortened and I was left scratching my head and saying "How did that happen?" All in all thou ...more

This book was decent. The concept of Gods and Goddesses was interesting. The heat between Riley and Sam was phenomenal. Hell, I could have moved things with my mind with how much he turned me on, and he's not real! I think the story was well written and holds the reader interested from beginning to end. I haven't read the first in this series, but I wasn't left in the dark. The author took that into account with this book.

Entertaining read that kept my interest. I like the spin of Gods and Goddesses. It was action packed and had just enough steamy romance to keep me entertained. I would recommend reading the first book in the series though first as their is a back story between several of the characters and the story line.

I got to chapter eight, 34% in and just had no inclination to read anymore. It wasn't grabbing my attention like it had at the beginning and I found myself just skipping through bits, trying to find a bit to keep me interested and to make me want to continue but it never came. Therefore it's going down as a DNF, I'm afraid.

This is an interesting book. It's got lots of action, romance, paranormal elements and suspense. It's unlike other books that I have read. This is the second book in the series but I didn't read the first one. I was still able to follow it through though. I am going to find the first book and read it too. It's a great series!
